Good call '87, I was thinking the same thing the other day about his tenure. I think you hit the nail on the head that the bowl bids were undoubtedly a function of teams available. If Chryst can secure just one more automatic bid out of this year's bowl melee, then I think his tenure would be considered very successful. He has done a good job of getting the MAC the bowls they currently have (MCB & GMAC). The key of course is that third or fourth automatic bid. I hope he can do it. Unfortunately as we all know, Chryst is probably at the mercy of what happens this bowl season. If the MAC can come away 5-0 or 4-1, then I think he has a bargaining chip that should make it easier to negotiate an automatic bid. If the MAC does anything less, I think it will remain difficult to to get bowls excited about hosting a MAC team that doesn't traditionally draw well . All in all, I think you sumed it up best wait and see.

I'm hyped about the MAC's good fortune this year, but we'll see if that translates into some sustained success. If the games are dogs, the ratings are weak and the fan support lags, it could be painful.

I don't see this as a reward for the MAC, but as an opportunity. What the conference does with it will really tell the tale.
