A Falcon In The Super Bowl
Congrats to former BG Falcon Dyral Briggs and his Packers teamates for making it to the Super Bowl!

Re: A Falcon In The Super Bowl
Not only is it awesome that Briggs is going to the superbowl but my Packers are as well! And if the steelers win, make it 2 former falcons in the superbowl!

Re: A Falcon In The Super Bowl
What a season for Diyral! Play for two teams that fired their head coaches and end up in the Super Bowl with your third!

Re: A Falcon In The Super Bowl
It is now certain that a former Falcon will wina Super Bowl ring on Feb. 6th. Steelers versus Packers. Suisham versus Briggs.
Did Charlie Wlliams win a ring with the Cowboys?

Re: A Falcon In The Super Bowl
I heard on the radio this morning that there will be 11 former MAC players playing in this years Super Bowl. Not too bad when only 106 players get to dress.
Re: A Falcon In The Super Bowl
This is from over on the NCAAbbs board. List of number of players in the Super Bowl by conference:
SEC - 19
Big 10 - 19
ACC - 14
MAC - 13 (or 15 including 1 Marshall and 1 UCF who played in the MAC)
PAC 10 - 12
Big 12 - 12
CUSA - 8
MWC - 6
WAC - 5
Big East - 4
Independent - 4
Division II - 3
Big Sky - 3
SWAC - 1
MEAC - 1
Sun Belt - 1
Yeah, the MAC has more players than the Pac 10, the Big 12, the Big East, and all of the other non AQ conferences playing for a Super Bowl title. Pretty incredible.

Well that list cannot be entirely accurate. I could have added incorrectly in my head but I came up with 125 players and only 106 get to dress. They may been included those on IR or PUB list. Regardless being tied for 3rd as most players by a conference in the Super Bowl is pretty cool! Way to represent the conference.

Peter King wrote today that the MAC had the second most players on the Packers' roster after the SEC. Then he lamented the lack of OU players.

Re: A Falcon In The Super Bowl
"When it comes to the players that will comprise the rosters of the two Super Bowl participants, though, there is a very big surprise amongst the powerhouse collegiate football programs. According to a press release fired off within minutes of the end of the AFC title game, there are four Div. 1-A schools that will have four players each on the active rosters of the respective teams that will square off amidst and around the commercials for the right to hoist the Lombardi.
Three of those programs are to be expected — LSU, Ohio State and Tennessee. The fourth? The mighty Chippewas of Central Michigan."

Re: A Falcon In The Super Bowl
The MAC said there are 15 players from the MAC, second only to the SEC's 18:

Looking at both teams rosters, the MAC is tied with the Big Ten for second among FBS conferences with 15 players, trailing only the SEC which has 18 players participating in the Super Bowl.
The Green Bay Packers have nine former MAC Players: WR Greg Jennings (Western Michigan), RB James Starks (Buffalo), DT Cullen Jenkins (Central Michigan), TE Tom Crabtree (Miami), DB Josh Gordy (Central Michigan), OL T.J. Lang (Eastern Michigan), S Atari Bigby (Central Florida), LB Frank Zombo (Central Michigan), Diyral Briggs (Bowling Green). In Green Bay alone, the MAC has the second most players from any conference (8) besides the SEC-which has 11.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have six former MAC Players: QB Ben Roethlisberger (Miami), LB James Harrison (Kent State), QB Charlie Batch (Eastern Michigan), WR Antonio Brown (Central Michigan), K Shaun Suisham (Bowling Green), QB Byron Leftwich (Marshall).
