Heard of a few local players who will be preferred walk-ons:

Chris Pohlman, a 6-2, 235 lb. LB from Delphos St. John's. Was Ohio D-6 defensive player of the year in both 2009 and 2010.

Jordan Leininger, a 6-1, 215 lb. Athlete from Delphos St. John's. Played QB and LB in high school. Was D-6 1st team all-Ohio this past season.

Taylor Hanes, a 6-2, 180 lb. WR from McComb. Was D-6 1st team all-Ohio this past season and also set the state single-season TD reception record this year with 30.

I'm curious....is Jordan Leininger related to former falcon Matt Leininger? Pretty sure different schools, but they could be cousins....or not...

I know the family of Taylor Hanes - great family. Never seen him play in person, but I have no doubt he was raised right. He's a local boy, being from McComb; it'll be nice if he pans out and earns a scholarship down the road.

Let's hope Taylor Hanes is a reincarnation of Cole Magner. Identical size (6'2", 180), can only wish for identical production.

Who is the best most recent walk on to scholarship guy that we have had?

Scott Lewis was a walk on.... According to Clawson's presser on signing day, Jovan Leacock and Cameron Truss were walk ons..all three are starters or on the two deep. Burbrink was rated in the top 300 WR's in the country by Scout...when you consider how many HS sr's played WR last year, that's kind of impressive...he's walking on this year.

Akenberger was a walk-on and listed as #1 at FB

61, Jordan Leininger is not related- at least closely- to Matt Leininger.

On paper, the group of preferred walk ons may be the most talented group in this category in many years. While it is a long way from that spot to a starter and scholarship, it is still quite a group. Bolstering this crew with a public announcement today was all state corner Tony Traylor from BG hotbed Pickerington North HS. In The Dispatch, he is listed as a BG signee- he will be a preferred walk on per reports and turned down a scholarship opportunity to go to BG. He is a fine student and he has earned some help that way.

I do and did and thats why I changed the post. I must be in some mood because I just felt like pushing buttons then deleted it because i realized I did it. Recruiting used to get me so excited but I was listening to stuff on the radio about OSU and reading stuff on here and I am realizing just how much of a crapshoot it is and how awful "sports reporting is". First off I absolutely hate when someone gets recruited or is leaves a program and they say things like "He is an OSU/BG type of guy". Every tam says that about every player, its meaningless. Then when a guy leaves its his fault because he does not "buy into the system". The leading questions by reporters or SIDs drives me nuts. More so reporters because they should not have an Agenda. Cal Bowers is there to represent BG but I literally heard Dimitrius Stanley on the radio down here in Columbus ask Braxton Millers coach 5 straight questions like...."Is he more of a guy who won't be able to understand the playbook right away or a guy who will jump right in and have success" It was more severe then that but it was basically a line of questioning that was here is a negtive you won't choose and then here is a positive that you will clearly choose. I also hate the "Talk about ....." questions. Thats not a question. I may not be positive all the time but I am an idealist and something about all of the stuff that surrounds recruiting grosses me out. Its completely one sided. Same thing happens during the draft and when new coaches are hired in all sports. People, including myself, decide to ignore reason for potential. But like Is aid I tried to delete that but was not fast enough.

Pohlman is a good kid... his father was my former AG teacher at Crestview...

and as far as Leininger, his sister used to be a cheerleader at UT so at least one of them chose the right school.

FF1, I love when you fill us in on this stuff...I'm assuming the "Dispatch" is the Columbus paper...I'll have to log onto it and say what the article says, but from what you're indicating...another Winner type kid.

Hope the St. Johns kids do well. Polhman is a big hitter. Leininger is a pure athlete with good size. Might make a great safety.
