I was looking at the BG News online (link below) and saw the advertisement for the spring game (bottom of page 7). I zoomed in on the ad and when I did, it looked like the helmets in the photo have a new "streaked" instead of a "striped" design on the top of the helmet. You can see it most clearly on #1's helmet. I liked the new look a lot. I actually prefer solid-colored crowns on helmets with no stripes at all and only the logos on the side, but I liked the way this streak looks over our stripes. It still features the brown border stripes with the white center stripe, just with a newer, fresher angle and twist like some others schools have featured. I hope we keep it, looks very cool IMO.

Well, if we do have a new helmet design next year, we'll get to see it tomorrow. Can't wait for the spring game!

Hate the 'streak' stripe on the helmet. Hate the 'piping' on the jerseys.

Denny, you have to click on the online edition of the paper. it will come up full screen and be the actual paper on the screen. Go to page 7 and then down to the bottom...it's in Black and White...click the zoom option and there you are!

Thanks for the heads up...I WAS on the online version, just couldn't figure out where to go to find the pic...1st pic I DID see was Shilz handing off to someone...realized I had the wrong day... not sure how I like this new look helmet stripe...maybe it'll look better in person. Since I can't make the Spring game, other than on computer, I guess I'll have to wait til Fall to see them.

I'm hoping that it's just the perspective of the picture. I hate the tapering stripe look, and if they really put the space ghost falcon on the side of the helmets, I may just vomit. The BG wordmark looks good and identifies who we are. The bird head doesn't, it looks like dozens of other generic bird heads.

Who's wearing the #1 jersey this year? Has it been announced? Normally that's either our top offensive player or our punt returner, or often both. Eugene Cooper maybe?

Does the steak continue down the back?

I really hope the steak is just on the player's plate at the team dinner.

I totally agree on the solo falcon space ghost logo (sans the interlocking BG). I will cry if our vaunted AD Department makes this move. The logo placement on the helmet is critical for a variety of reasons and may be one of the most important marketing tools we have. The wordmark could be updated a bit including making the B and G thicker but I would rather see us go the way of the Browns with no logo vs. the falcon head only.

I'm guessing that it will be the peekaboo logo and lettering. I wont knock it till i see it. If I remember correctly I believe the cages are a black/Brown color as opposed to the white we previously have worn.

I feel like the last 3 seasons have featured the best look we've had in years. The shoulder stripes were nice, there was no piping, the helmet logo was clean and easy to identify, and all the detail elements of the uniforms meshed. I hated the new road template last year, and I'm guessing that we will get homes that match this year. Say it with me now: uniform piping is EVIL!
