NCAA violations and BGSU....just a question so relax!

Post by Falconfreak90 »

All the talk of The Ohio Scandal University and lately, Boise State and few others....I started wondering just how many NCAA infractions the BGSU football program has been found guilty. Is this public knowledge that anyone can access? Especially a state public university? I know we all have pride in BGSU having an overall legit program that does it's best with the rules. But I am really curious to find out the specifics of any violations to see how we appear to compare with others. There was, of course, "BratGate" involving a former BG O Lineman and a group of us...lol. Can't believe we didn't get the death penalty for that one.

So, any ideas on how to find this stuff out would be greatly appreciated!

The Dispatch had a page a while back that tracked all of these. BG historically has been found of 0, count them 0 major violations. There were a few minor self-reported violations, by far fewer than most, and one of the lowest in the MAC. So we in fact are fans of a program that does things the right way.

And I love this ...

Kinda figured that Mark. We've done well over the years attempting to do the right thing...it's all I ask. I knew we didn't have any major violations and it needs to stay that way. thanks Bro...

I'm no OSU fan, but I fail to see what these kids did wrong. If someone offered me free food or a free trip and no one else, I'm not going to complain. Mark Titus the benchwarmer for the OSU basketball team had a great take on impermissible benefits. I am paraphrasing here, "A girl wanted nothing to do with him until she found out he was on the basketball team, does he need to report that to the NCAA?" I'm proud of the clean record that BGSU has, but I think the NCAA needs to change.

i sure hope your program never has to deal with NCAA allegations.

if you asked me four weeks ago if boise state did things the right way, i would've emphatically said yes. i guess all it takes is one rogue coach to mess up an entire program's reputation.

it really sucks, but we'll just take our medicine and hopefully our program will be better for it.

Well, if she was verifiably hot I'd report it to the NCAA, my local newspaper, the university press, all her ex-boyfriends and all my ex-girlfriends.

I don't think anyone thinks the kids did much wrong
(although the hoops guy's comment was stupid) but the coach? Another thing entirely.

I couldn't find the blog post that he made the comments in, but the article was hilarious. He had an interesting take on NCAA rules being a basketball player for a top program. Thank goodness OSU isn't being accused of point shaving.

I was stunned when I heard of Boise State and the allegations. Totally stunned. Hope it all works out for BSU.

I cannot imagine anything worse than going 3-8 in a season. If we truly go 3-8 in a full season we should drop from 1A down to peewee football and fire everybody down to the hall monitors (math instructors also).

I was about to write something about not quoting birdman, tekekini, etc. Basically don't quote people who everybody ignores. However, now that I see what was posted, I feel the need to rip on birdman.

Birdman, did you put this sign up?

i may be a bit of a homer, but i don't think what the boise football coaches did constitutes a "bad thing," per se.

essentially, they got dinged for helping new recruits connect with players to find a place to stay before school started -- often that meant sleeping on a couch or the floor. apparently that's against the highly ambiguous NCAA rules.

apparently the NCAA believes that sleeping on the floor provides a competitive advantage.

it was still against the rules, and for that our coaches will humbly accept punishment. but i think the NCAA should also be punished for excessive stupidity.
