Mr. Lukas has posted his 2011 College Football uniform edition on espn.com. Here are his comments on our neww look:

I've already commented on my distaste for the tapered stripe on the helmet, and I think it looks worse every time I see it. But my God, those pants stripes are HIDEOUS!!!! Who approves that crap? Why would you curve the stripe up around the butt? And why is it orange at the bottom? Horrible, just horrible. (in my opinion )

Everyone has their personal opinion on style and logos and such, but why do the orange uniforms have two M.A.C. patches?? On the front there is the new M.A.C. soccer shield logo and on the back, where the nameplate would be, is the NCAA football M.A.C. patch. Just strange.


Now on to my personal opinion- I like the tapered helmet stripe and don't mind the logo change and face mask. However, I would have liked to have seen this design on a gasp white helmet. If we are going to mix things up, lets mix things up.

This Lukas guy must be popular with the ladies.

You know what ESPN really needed? If you answered "A weirdo analyzing and critiquing the font and stripe placement of hundreds of sports uniforms" then you're in luck.

Man don't get me started... we are a mess. I'm borderline embarrassed by our current look. I realize what matters is how we do on the field (blahblahblah), but these are pretty bad.

Who does greenlight these types of things? Is it GC? Do they consult with anyone?

Just because we have to reorder uniforms every 2-3 years doesn't mean we have to change them! The previous set looked great in my opinion.

As an avid reader of his Page 2 column and a sometimes contributor to his uniwatchblog.com I resemble that statement!

The font is the, "Falcon font." Correct? All the teams are using the same letters and numbers.

I would go for white helmets and brown jerseys. But that's just me.

I love our Falcon font. it's unique. I think its the only part I like of this new uniform.

I will give BG the benefit of the doubt until I see them worn. With no shoulder pads those jerseys look really cluttered. They will look much better with pads on, IMO. Hopefully...

The pictures really give you a good look at how bad the unis are.....GC just keeps up the great work...I've heard he is very involved in the uniform design for football, so it doesn't suprise me they how bad they are.

As long as the player's butts look good, I could care less about the striping.

I actually like the new helmets and uniforms. But I guess when Idaho beats us, it will be blamed on the new look....

My thoughts exactly.

I mean, the road jerseys changed to this format last year and while I wasn't sure I liked them at first, they grew on me. I have a feeling after the initial "this looks different" shock wears off, I'll like the home ones & new helmets too.


Also, if Lukas had looked at more than just the picture of Willie Geter, he might have realized that having the numbers in the "Falcon Font" isn't new.

Christopher couldn't have had anything to do with the new helmets because I sort of like them! ;

The helmets grew on me as the game went on...I dig them.

I still don't understand two M.A.C. patches, but I always like white on white.

Helmets looked pretty good- I like the tapered stripes and brown facemask. The logo though looks off with the orange falcon on an orange helmet- either go orange helmet with just BG or white helmet with the current logo.

Everything looks better when you win though!
