Chris Jones named MAC East Defensive POW!

Chris Jones, a member of the Bowling Green State University football team, was named Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week after his efforts versus Idaho last Thursday. The announcement was made by the league office on Sept. 5.

While Jones had just three tackles in the 32-15 win at Idaho, he made the most of all three opportunities. The junior had three tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble as the Falcons held Idaho to just 280 yards of total offense and 2-of-12 on third downs.

Jones also recorded a safety following a Brian Schmiedebusch punt, that was downed at the 2-yardline. The quarterback sack put the Falcons up by three scores early in the fourth quarter.

Jones is gonna have a monster year...

And Schmeidebusch got screwed for the Special Teams Player award IMHO. Most likely because a BG guy was getting another award.

They gave it to the OU punt returner who returned a punt 65 yards for a TD when the score was already 37-10! He only had one other punt return in the game for a whopping 6 yards.

Jones could end up being something very special.

And RWT, I agree. Our punter had a huge impact on the game. Unfortunately, that's tough to discern from looking at a stat sheet.
