So ... oops for not getting this posted last week. And ... thanks to 24 for that! Here's the standings after week one. Byron, can you pick lottery numbers?

In summary, MAC fared pretty well, Ball State surprised the hell out of me and a whole lot of people, 'Nova disappointed, Akron laid an egg at Ohio State, NIU loudly and proudly declared themselves the team to beat, Ohio kicked the living tar out of the WAC's worst team, and BG dominated a team expected to compete for a WAC title. Not a bad week. Oh ... and Eastern Michigan won, therefore halfway to matching the win total of the last two seasons combined.
And now the week two games. Miami's got a bye, league play starts for Akron and Temple, Eastern Michigan gets their second straight FCS team, Toledo has a hard act to follow after Akron at Ohio State, and Northern Illinois is favored on the road at a (bad) Big 12 team.
Saturday September 10, 2011
Central Michigan at Kentucky, 12:00 pm
Toledo at Ohio State, 12:00 pm
Alabama State at Eastern Michigan, 1:00 pm
Stony Brook at Buffalo, 6:00 pm
Temple at Akron, 6:00 pm
Nicholls State at Western Michigan, 7:00 pm
Gardner-Webb at Ohio, 7:00 pm
Ball State at South Florida, 7:00 pm
Louisiana Lafayette at Kent State, 7:00 pm
Northern Illinois at Kansas, 7:00 pm
Morgan State at Bowling Green, 7:00 pm
And ... my picks.
UK. Kentucky is beatable by several MAC teams, but CMU's not one of them.
OSU. Toledo is all time 0-2 against Ohio State and all time scoreless against them. Don't be stunned if they remain all time scoreless after Saturday. That Ohio State defense is nasty good.
EMU. Eastern Michigan to start 2-0? One of the weakest 2-0 starts in history.
UB. UB played Pitt tough and won't lose to an FCS team.
Temple by a couple of miles. Let's see if Akron gets on the scoreboard this season.
WMU big. They played Michigan way better than the final score indicated.
OU big. OU is the team to beat in the east.
USF. Beating Indiana is really nice, but USF is likely to contend for the Big East title. USF's defense shuts down BSU.
Kent big. ULL is bad.
NIU. NIU is seven point favorites. I say they cover the spread.
BG. No doubt here, BG looks like a team that could stun the MAC.
I'll be keeping track of the standings as this goes along. As with last year, I'll give a small BG-related prize to whoever gets the most picks and whoever has the best winning percentage. Note ... to get best winning percentage, you have to play a lot. If somebody does really well three or four times and then bails ... yeah that's cheap. Have fun with this, and if I forget again, somebody either remind me or take care of it on your own!
