...to Ball State of all places.

You gotta wonder if Brandon being on the coaching block is causing these recent losses. I mean c'mon...we can't be losing 3-star recruits to Central and Ball State for any other reason could we???

Tom:
Someone mentioned on another thread recently that BSU and CMU coaches have had a bit of an "advantage" over the Bowlbound MAC teams in that they've got the kids' ear, so to speak, because the bowl teams have to focus on the immediate game ahead. That said, I would agree that Brandon's possible candidacy for some other jobs would possibly hurt us..sure as heck the other coaches are saying 2 things about BG.... You WON'T be able to play right away...and... how do you know that the coach or coaches recruiting you now are even going to be there?
I mentioned previously that I feel the WEST is picking up the pace at an almost unbelievable rate... CMU had a slew of kids coming in THIS weekend, Ball St. is still in a "new coach" syndrome, working hard, EMU looks like they're picking it up...and WMU's new coach has yet to get his feet on the ground completely...The WEST will be a super division in about 2 more yrs. in my opinion...there won't be an "easy" game there by that time, unless some of these guys really screw up.

I didn't kow he gave us a verbal? Is it printed somewhere that we lost him, or do we just like doomsday headlines?

I think he said Ball State was his leader all along. One of his teammates from last year went there and another teammate from this year is going there. Apparently, they like the idea of staying together and building a pipleine to the school from their HS in Chicago.
To advance what 61 said a little...BSU and CMU have been good programs. Them being on a down cycle is closer to an aberration than the norm. I agree completley that the west is shaping up as a very tough division to compete in

At some point four years ago somebody was saying "I can't believe we lost so-and-so to Bowling Green!"

He visited BG on 12/3 and we had an offer out to him so we I would assume we must have wanted him.

I'm taking a wait and see attitude about recruiting this year. We have four straight good seasons under our belt and two straight bowl bids. I have to believe that Brandon and his crew have lots of "capital" to use on the recruiting trail.
We have plenty of holes to fill, but I'll start the recruiting season with lots of enthusiasm ... and optimism!

Well count the big OL from akron not coming here either i read over on JJ Huddle he is going to the school up north on I-75 along with a TE/DE who is 6'4 242 and was at one time interested in us. I do feel that the talk of the coach maybe not beeing here is have a bit of a prob in the world of recruiting. I was wondering though 2 of the verbals we have might be 2 transfer kids from other I-a achools like Mike daniels from UC and Sammy Joesph from Colorado who just happens to be the DB coach's lil bro who was a 4 star kid coming out of HS but he only would have 2 years to play here sence he had allready used his RS at Colorado

I thought someone confirmed that Daniels was transferring to BG, but Joseph transferred to Alabama I think.

how about the school up North - O/Coord leaving them ????
might that may affect some kids decision, too ?? Haven't heard much about that.
And Stuzs talk about going somewhere else . . . I hear Pitt is opening up now and that they could be interested ???

Rumor has it that rockette DC coordinator Lou West will be the new HC at Indiana State. Looks like they'll need a new OC and DC.
A couple of their posters on that board were concerned because we took a LB and an OL prospect from them. Nobody gets everyone they want, not even Lloyd Carr, Jim Tressel and ...(gasp)..Urban Meyer

We had 15 or so recruits on campus this weekend so the bowl game has not slowed us down.

Mike Daniels is still at UC assuming your talking about the little running back from Cincinnati Princeton. I was never sure where that rumor came from.

Look at it this way, would you rather be a small fish in the ocean or a big fish in a wading pool? Some guys want to be team players, some want to be big man on campus.
