There are some folks in the BG nation that do an outstanding job of analyzing the facts - i.e. orangeandbrown.blogspot.com is incredible in his detail. But here is what I see, hear and feel in my opinion.

First, Coach Clawson is the man. He didn't have a chance at Tennessee, but this team is really coming around. His schemes are working, and most importantly he's recruiting really, really well and they seem to be good kids - albeit from a distance. This Devon Mckoy is looking like a major stud and to watch him on postgame video, appears to be a good, smart, humble kid. I haven't been this excited since year 2 of the Urban Meyer days. This is a young team that will win a lot more games this year, and probably lose a couple of games like Wyoming, but the future is amazingly bright! We have a young, smart qb with some actual running backs coming into the fold and improving lines on both sides of the ball. I believe we'll get 7 wins and maybe 8 this year. That's an amazing jump from 2!! Phil Steele and all the other prognosicators including the foolish 'tweety'birdman, be damned, or at least looking really stupid.

West Virginia is in the same place that Maryland was last week - primetime match-up, espn game day, this is the perfect set up for a HUGE Falcon statement. We may not win, but I'm expecting a really close game. I think coming off WVA and having to visit a very strong WMU in a tough environment, will be a pretty tough loss. Toledo and Temple will be tough, but I think both could be had at home, although more realisticaly we are looking at a split and I think we can run the table for the last four games.

A bowl game is realistic, the MACC is a bit of a long shot, but not out of the realm of possiblities, and again next year and beyond is only brighter. Great win at Miami - now take it to the outhouse living mountain folk. Go BG!!!

Lots of good points here. I really like Clawson. He is fantastic. Phil Steele thought this would be a bad year, and by all indications, it should be. Steele works with statistics and trends, but there is no way to quantify the energy and enthusiasm Clawson puts into the players. Since birdman is just a UT fan trying to scare away recruits and knows less about football than my cousin's 2 month old daughter, he doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as any nationally renowned football writer.

I was thinking something similar regarding McKoy. I was very impressed how well spoken he was, and he's only a freshman. No matter how old or young he is, he seems to be a very well spoken young man, along with being a heck of a football player. The read he and Morgan made on that 4th down stop was perfect. And I've been really impressed all year long with this secondary. They are young. Very young. Several new starters, and as new starters they've made their mistakes. However, once a catch is made, the receiver is tackled immediately. I think if you count up the number of missed tackles the secondary has had this entire season, that's a pretty similar count to what they missed in an average game last year. And they've been helped by having a great pass rush up front.

Another thing that's helping beyond any belief is more stability at offensive line. Having Bojicic at tackle wasn't great the last few weeks. However, if it had been last year and we had to do a shift on the o line, we'd have been bringing either somebody on who's not ready to play or bringing a defensive lineman over to play o line. We had depth at offensive line and have enough good players to be flexible there. And now that Bojicic is back at center, I expect him to be dominant. The pass protection wasn't great early yesterday, but it improved as the game went on as the line gelled. Having good pass protection and good run blocking is something we never had at any point last year after the Troy game.

The stretch of that team down south - WVU - WMU - that team up north - Temple is a BRUTAL stretch. Starting it out 1-0 in that stretch excellent. All five are winnable, but at the same time these upcoming four games are all potential losses. We will see how tough this team is mentally and physically by how they escape these next few weeks. If we sweep the MAC part of that, you can go ahead and write us in as east champs I think.

Agreed 100% with both posts...I had a gut feeling before the season started we had a hungry team on our hands. We very well could be 4-0 right now but that's how it goes.

This team is capable of beating WVU...GO FALCONS!!!!!

Thanks for the compliment, and I agree. I do think Clawson is turning it around. He has done it elsewhere and knows what he is doing.
