Embarassing

As a WVU fan, I am outright embarrassed by the behavior of some of our fans who were "booing" some of your injured players. It made me ashamed and practically speechless, and I would like to apologize for that disgusting behavior. There is nothing to excuse for it. Nothing.

About the game, well... I think it caught BG completely off-guard that our running game finally appeared. There's simply no question about it. This probably caused you to take the defensive game plan and throw it out the window, which was a huge advantage for us and really allowed Holgorsen to mix things up to keep your defense guessing. Holg's offense is for real... and if LSU didn't have those athletic freaks on defense that caused us to turn the ball over 4 times, the outcome of that game would have been different as we put up 588 yards on the "best defense in college football".

Anyway, I think our offense jumping out in front caused you to kind of abandon the run-game just enough to make your play calling more predictable for our defense. I don't know... maybe you were trying to hard to quickly answer score-for-score and got a little too anxious, which caused you to fall into a hole too quickly. Either way, considering the youth of your team, I think you are loaded with talent. Let's just hope you can put the loss behind you and get back on track immediately against WMU.

Again, I'm completely disgusted by those fans who were booing... I only hope you don't judge the entire fanbase because of it. I'll definitely be keeping track of BG the rest of the year and I hope you shake this loss off and get moving in the right direction again!

Thanks for your post wvu1811. I admit it, sitting in Milan Puskar on Saturday, that was the one thing (outside of the game result...lol) that didn't seem right to me at all. It wasn't until the 4th or 5th time it happened, deep into the 2nd quarter, that I realized what was going on, that the WVU fans were booing our players because they thought they were faking injuries to stall the WVU offense...a la Cal against Oregon last year. Evidently other Falcon fans caught on about that time because a WVU player went down injured in the middle of the 2nd and a lot of sarcastic boos rained out from the sliver of orange in section 99.

I think booing of injured players is classless, no matter who does it. This is football, not soccer.

WVU1811,
Thanks for the "apology", obviously not needed by YOU per se.... funny thing...I was unable to attend the game due to some unforeseen problems, but I recall back in '88, (I think), WVU was highly ranked, possibly even #2 in country at the time...
We were greeted, mostly by, I'm guessing, some rather inebriated students with some of the crudest remarks and comments we'd ever run into. I've had the chance to go to a great many of our "BIG" non conference games thru the years, and have mostly enjoyed the good natured kidding etc. that happens between fans. When we beat Kentucky, for example, a guy came right at me after the game and said "Y'all shamed us"... we both had a great conversation about MAC football vs. SEC etc.
Good to see that true fans like you are around...Good luck the rest of the season. :)

There's jerks in every fanbase...let's be glad the good people outnumber the bad....except for Toledo where they're pretty much all jerks

What is that supposed to mean? Don't knock an entire sport just because some dumb broad from Brazil faked her injury.

Thanks fellas...

Honestly, I know Holgorsen is a young head coach who has never been a head coach on ANY level before. So, there's a learning curve there. But, I wish he would come out publicly (like on his coach's show) and tell the fans how embarrassing and classless that behavior is. I think it takes a little something away from the victory. I really do.

Best of luck the rest of the season. I'm looking forward to you bouncing back at WMU.

I think '91 was the only other time BG played WVU. I was in the band at the time and we traveled to that game. We were welcomed by their band and fans and had a good time talking with them before the game. That all changed after halftime when we played Brass Roots, Rocky Top, Tennessee Waltz, Cornfed Concerto (Benny Hill). I think they felt we were making fun of them or something

This has been going on at WVU for years and years. lets not think that this is something that few classless fans came up with last weekend against BG. Does anyone remember when the fans tried to tip over an ambulance carrying an injured Miami player out of the stadium>? They seriously almost flipped it over with an injured kid inside. The claim to fame is lightnight couches on fire outside the stadium! They are a bunch of degenerate, white trash , toothless freaks... Lets not let them slide because someone came on here and posted an apology.. This has been happening for 50 years at WVU and will not change ...

Look, we've all heard horror stories regarding certain fanbases, including WVU. Two of my brothers and I met up there and were treated very, very well. No complaints from me.

Played them in 88 and 91. I was a freshman in 88. BG got killed 62-14. In 91, I think it was BGs only loss. BG played well, just not enough depth, WVU wore us down a bit

They actually showed Holgorsen once just after one of the injuries and he was clearly upset and mouthed something which appeared to be an obscenity to me.

Yeah, I was going to point out that Dana's not going to be much help on that front- during the LSU game it appeared he was challenging Les Miles to a fight dropping some MFer and BSs and then he did it to a lesser extent when on of BG's players went down.

Regarding the "this isn't soccer comment" you're referring to the fanbases right? Cause all the soccer matches I've attended when a player goes down there is booing and a common chant is "Dig A Hole, Dig A Hole".

Well at his weekly pressed holdgerson ripped into his fans!! But not for any of the reasons listed here. He ripped the fans for not showing up ! Only 46k showed up after 62 k for lsu.. Yup he ripped the wvu fans alright but not for being classless ..
