Pick the MAC, week 6!
Pick the MAC, week 6!
Here's the standings. And as always, if you think I botched your wins / losses, let me know, I'll review and fix it. Just about halfway through the season and it is a tight, tight race.

This past week was, well, pretty brutal for a lot of us. Not many picked CMU, Toledo, or WMU.
And for this week's schedule. All 13 teams play, and not too many non conf games after this week.
Saturday
Army at Miami, 1:00
Florida International at Akron, 2:00
Temple at Ball State, 2:00
Bowling Green at Western Michigan, 2:00
Eastern Michigan at Toledo, 3:00
Ohio at Buffalo, 3:30
Kent State at Northern Illinois, 3:30
Central Michigan at N.C. State, 3:30
And ... my picks.
Miami. Army is so far 0-2 in MAC play. I say Miami gets their first win of the season. Seriously, is Army trying to get into the MAC? They play like 3 - 5 games each year in our conference it seems.
FIU. Akron is pathetic.
Temple. After what has happened in the last two weeks, I'm having a hard time reading Temple and Steve Adazzio. Not sold on him as a head coach, but Temple wins big.
Bowling Green. After sloppy, sloppy play last week, BG has all of the top players back and is focused on one goal: win the conference. BG is a very, very dangerous (and still young) team this year and as talented as anyone in the conference. Defense puts constant pressure on Carder and offense is consistently effective. BG starts MAC play 2-0, 2-0 on the road with a HUGE win at Waldo.
Toledo. This is EMU's best team in years and they might not win more than 2 MAC games.
Ohio. Jury's still out ... is Buffalo mediocre, bad, or horrible?
NIU. Kent will be decent by the time the year is over, but their defense won't be able to slow down NIU.
N.C. State. The Wolfpack haven't been too hot this year, but they won't struggle with the Chips.
Good luck!

I am not sure how to word this but if Falconian's reverse picking ends up being better than the winner, shouldn't he win
Re: Pick the MAC, week 6!
Army at Miami, 1: - Will give Army credit for beat a decent Northwestern team, but I think Miami get there first win here. Pick: Miami
Florida International at Akron, 2:00 - If FIU is able to keep the BCS conferences away from their coach I see good things in their future. They will beat a poor Akron team. Pick: FIU
Temple at Ball State, 2:00 - Tale of two teams...which Temple team shows up? I still think that even on a bad day Temple can handle Ball State. Pick: Temple
Bowling Green at Western Michigan, 2:00 - BGSU was embarrassed last week...they are a much better team than they showed against WVU. I think that a fired up Falcon team upsets WMU by playing solid defense and getting Cooper and Jordan involved early and often. Schillz must play mistake free to win. Pick: BGSU
Eastern Michigan at Toledo, 3:00 - Toledo has played very stiff competition this year. They beat up on EMU at home. Pick: Toledo
Ohio at Buffalo, 3:30 - Not really sure what to think of this Buffalo team...They played Pitt and UConn tough, but have lost to Ball State. I think they play Ohio tough, but come up short in the end. Pick: Ohio
Kent State at Northern Illinois, 3:30 - NIU has to be embarrassed by not showing up in the 1st quarter against Central. Expect an angry NIU team to blow out Kent. Pick NIU
Central Michigan at N.C. State, 3:30 - Last week was a great win for the Chips. Expect them to play with more confidence then they have shown this season. NC State however, will be too much to handle. Pick: NC State
Florida International at Akron, 2:00 - If FIU is able to keep the BCS conferences away from their coach I see good things in their future. They will beat a poor Akron team. Pick: FIU
Temple at Ball State, 2:00 - Tale of two teams...which Temple team shows up? I still think that even on a bad day Temple can handle Ball State. Pick: Temple

Yeah kdog, I was thinking that .... I always enjoy reading Falconian's picks. If he ends up with least (most) wins or worst (best) winning percentage ... well ... I guess we have a winner ...

Re: Pick the MAC, week 6!
Army at Miami: I saw part of one of Army's recent games and they don't look good at all.
Florida International at Akron: I'd like to think the long road trip would give the Zips an upper hand, but they are really bad this year.
Temple at Ball State: This is an interesting game for the Owls. They looked really strong and confident before the spRockets got them derailed. I think they'll regroup and march toward a MAC East title.
Bowling Green at Western Michigan: We're going to learn a lot about our team's character this weekend. In the end, I think being on the road against a pretty good offense will prove too much.
Eastern Michigan at Toledo: The Rockets are on a roll and the Hurons are in a tailspin.
Ohio at Buffalo: I'm not convinced the Snobkitties are for real, but Frank the Tank will get a W here.
Kent State at Northern Illinois: The Huskies have too many weapons for the Flashes.
Central Michigan at N.C. State: The Chips have a lot of questions to answer before they return to MAC contention.

Re: Pick the MAC, week 6!
Picks for Week 6: (It's a very close race...like MarkL and Kdog27 said, no more gimmes, it's all the tough MAC contests now.)
Army at Miami, 1:00 - Miami - I keep thinking Miami's talent will show up at some point. Their new coaches must really be horrible.
Florida International at Akron, 2:00 - Florida International - Did I really just pick FIU to win a game? Ouchtown, population Zippy.
Temple at Ball State, 2:00 - Temple - I went back and forth on this one, BSU's underrated, but Temple bounces back and wins a close one.
Bowling Green at Western Michigan, 2:00 - Bowling Green - I had BG winning at season's outset, and though my head is telling me to change the pick, the heart wins (for once). Hopefully BG will win too.
Eastern Michigan at Toledo, 3:00 - Toledo - Not even close, Toledo big. Next.
Ohio at Buffalo, 3:30 - Buffalo - I don't know why exactly, but I'm smelling an upset here. Da Bulls upend the Bobcats to put BG atop the East Division.
Kent State at Northern Illinois, 3:30 - Northern Illinois - Hey KSU offense, good luck trying to keep up with NIU's attack. Mwahahaha.
Central Michigan at N.C. State, 3:30 - North Carolina State - NC State is bad...if the Chippewas were anything like the LeFevour teams I'd take them here, but no dice.

I'm worried about BG at WMU. I remember that two of Michigan's TD's against WMU were defensive ones and that Carder is having a great year at QB. Picked BG anyway.
