Lets give credit where credit is due...

Maybe its the fact that I had some time to digest the game last Saturday, or the fact that I had to sit and watch my Lions revert back to their old ways in their loss to Atlanta, but I think some major props need to be given this young Falcon team and Coach Clausen.

Immediately after the game, alot of people on this board (myself guilty as well) began nitpicking about the coaches, offensive play, etc....and lost site of the fact that this was a HUGE win for this young team.

We just beat a team that was statistically one of the best rushing and defensive teams in the nation. A team who destroyed Maryland, and only lost by 4 to Penn State.

Granted we do have problems offensively, but you do have to be encouraged that when we needed Schillz the most, he stood in the pocket against pressure and put that ball right on the money for our go-ahead TD.

This was, in my opinion, one of the stable wins during the Clausen era.

I'm very encouraged as to where this team is going - I see great things for our future.

Lets avoid a let down next week vs Kent and keep things rollin'

It was absolutely a HUGE win for this young team, and definitely a big win to keep us in the MAC East hunt. I was critical yesterday as well, and I still feel the same way with regard to our offensive playcalling, but it was still a win. It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win.

And it was a helluva lot better than the game the Browns won today...

Bottom line is, we played hard and played that way all four quarters. There were no let ups, and that is why we came away with this win. Like mentioned in another thread, I also didn't like our play call on the last possession but the special teams and then defense held on for the win. The defense did a great job throughout. Temple had just two big runs, and aside from those two carries, we shut them down.

It was also great to finally win a close game instead of coming out on the losing end again. After the way our defense had been shredded in recent weeks, it was great to see them play the way they did, and also our special teams as those two field goal proved to be huge. I thought the offense was bogged down. I know much of that had to do with Temple, but I felt we had so much more success attacking their defense down the field rather than on the edges as we never seemed to break anything that way time and time again. It was also frustrating to see us get stuffed on that third and one again. But none the less, it was a win and felt great!

BIG win for this team...the kind of win that can turn a season into something special. We got over a major hurdle yesterday against a quality team.

BEAT KENT!!

But Clawson is a young coach. He is a baby bird too. Seriously now, can we please stop saying that this is a young team. You could say that for the first or second game of the year but not anymore.

I just keep looking back at the records of the past teams Clawson coached. Last year was that bad year. This year we make progress. History has a funny way of repeating itself. Some of you seem to believe he should have gone 10-2 every year since he arrived.

The real credit lies with me. I didn't go to the game and they won because I wasn't there. I haven't seen a victory since the year after I graduated. If I would have been there, Temple would have pulled it out so you're all welcome!

Hope to see you all at Hockey games!!!

Yep. The plan is in place. We have a lot of work to do yet BUT this team is on the way. It's gonna be a hell of a ride to the top. Sheet....win 4 more and we're playing in Detroit the first Friday in December.

GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really know that this is something that has been talked about already but think about this past saturday's game, won by defense and SPECIAL TEAMS. Something that has been shaky in recent past. Solidifying the kicking game has been huge. You don't really think about it but the two field goals we had won us the game, thats something we haven't been able to count on in the past. In recent past we have been that team with 1 or 2 missed field goals and finishing that game losing 10-7 ....... big ups to special teams and Stephen Stein getting the job done.

I'm not a big fan of the wildcat, but there is *something* to be said for giving the opposing defense multiple looks. BG put up more yards than any other league opponent against Temple to date and scored 13 more points than Temple had allowed in the previous two weeks combined.

Good offensive performance all the way around, it says here.

+1. Only Penn State (14) and Toledo (36) scored over 13. Hell no one else has even put up double digits! People complaining about the offense last week need some perspective.

The defense also matched Penn State's defense in only allowing 10 points.
