What was the excuse this time for the poor attedance? Great weather, good opponent what more do BG fans want? 12,000 is pretty poor.

Everyone was home having sex in piles of leaves. We should see a baby boom in 9 months, unless it was gay sex.

Agreed.

Weather was damn near perfect. Should have seen more students out at the game for sure.

Our record and losing three games in a row is why people were not there. Now we made the trip from a few hours away as usual, but I think the losing streak had much to do with the turnout. But, they are the ones who missed out. It wasn't the prettiest win, but it was a BG victory and those always look beautiful to me.

BGSU...you're exactly right.

I graduated from Central during the "Glory Days" of CMU football where they were playing BCS schools tough and beatin' up on MAC teams with Dan LeFevour and Antonio Brown.

Tailgates were jam-packed, the stadium was full, and the Student Section would overflow into the visitor area. With the team now, you could walk into that stadium next Saturday and pretty much sit wherever you'd like.

The problem with the MAC students, is that most of them care more about their BCS school of choice than their own school sports.

Unfortunately, the bandwagon fans are one of the disadvantages that the MAC has today - I wish it were different.

MAC teams have to win throughout the year to keep their stadiums full. (unless you're Eastern, I have no clue how to get people there with Ann Arbor 7 miles away)

You watch though, if the MAC East crown comes down to BG and Ohio, that stadium will be packed. Not to mention playing on ESPN typically brings a nice student crowd

This board has existed in one form or another since 2001...you could probably find posts wondering why attendance is low during every one of those years...even in the early part if the 2000's when we were nationally ranked and on the actual ESPN we had some sparsely attended games...2003 against Kent probably drew 8,000 and it was the frst home game after the sell out against NIU...granted, it was cold and we had lost the previous game on the road to Miami...but we were nationally ranked for Pete's sake.

The attendance thing used to bug me too... It no longer does. I get to the games I can get to and I have fun when I'm there. Why more people aren't doning the same has no bearing on my enjoyment.

I'm with Flip...beating a dead horse on attendance. Win and the place is usually pretty full.

It's definately a point of pride around here when the stadium is full, but I'll admit that I don't mind a little room to stretch. I've been to couple (mostly) full games at the Doyt, and at least on one occasion I found it less enjoyable; not because of the score either.

When the stadium is less full, you don't have to deal with some of the people that complain about everything. I was standing during a big play at the Toledo game, towards the end of the game, and this old fart and his wife were heading down the stairs on their way out. He puts his hand on my shoulder on his way down the steps and says, "You know, when you stand up like that, nobody behind you can see." I just ignored him. But then, after managing two more steps, he shouts, "There's nobody in front of you, so there's no excuse to be standing up. Nobody else can see."

My response? "Thanks, old fart! Go sit in wheelchair row next time!"

Had a conversation yesterday around the dinner table - the reason I wasn't there is that I can't remember the last time I was at The Doyt and our Falcons won? Call me superstitous - I can/will continue to be absent if that means our Falcons win. Missing the fun - A MAC championship - :D

Anyone else think attendance lags when there is 2 home games in a row? I haven't looked and I don't have time to check, but it seems the 2nd week of back to back home games always lags.

I think you might be on to something there. I remember back in 2005 when we had a nearly full house against Western Michigan, and then the next week against Akron we had maybe 7k there, smallest crowd I've ever seen at the Doyt.

I can't remember too many instances of us being at home back to back weeks since I've been following the team, so the sample size isn't great.

That's what I said to the people around us, "All of you that didn't come to the game..missed a great Bowling Green win!" It was an awesome game...granted the offense could have done more, but when it came to crunch time, the boys got it done on offense and DEFENSE!!" The "D" played lights out the whole game. Hopefully we can build on it!
