Pick the MAC: Week 9

Post by bgsufalcon24 »

We're heading into the stretch run of the season now, and beginning with the 9th week of the Pick the MAC contest, the ever-popular (not) weekday night television games start to come into play. With four games scheduled for the midweek next week, I've cut the week off between Wednesday and Thursday, on the grounds that teams would start playing more than once past Wednesday the 2nd.

On the docket this week are a craptastic contest in the rubber city, a likely elimination game in Oxford, a confrontation between confounding teams in Kalamazoo, and two absolutely huge games in Toledo and Athens with the West and East division leads on the line. And then there's BG, playing on the road in Kent.

Saturday, Oct 29:
Central Michigan at Akron - 12pm
Bowling Green at Kent State - 1pm
Ball State at Western Michigan - 2pm
Buffalo at Miami - 3:30pm

Tuesday, Nov 1:
Northern Illinois at Toledo - 7pm

Wednesday, Nov 2:
Temple at Ohio - 8pm

Pretty much everybody went 4-2 last week, with a smattering of 5-1's. The WMU-EMU and Temple-BGSU games caused the majority of defeats.

Current Standings:
Warthog - 61-15
Bgsufalcon24 - 61-15
Lordbyron - 60-16
Kdog27 - 59-17
Bgfalconfromcincy - 58-18
Falconfan1999 - 58-18
MarkL - 57-19
1987alum - 57-19
Mjmorefield - 57-19
Camkru - 56-20
Footballguy51 - 54-22
Vdubfalcon - 47-17
Fortwaynefalcon - 47-23
Daspollak - 44-9
BGdodgeball - 40-16
Svillefalcon - 39-13
Ham0331 - 27-5
Oldballcoach61 - 19-5
Mc0322 - 19-10
Sicsicalum - 18-4
Falconian - 18-58 (reverse picking)
Jpfalcon - 12-1
Polsenvsbgsu - 10-2

Also you might want to double check that. You and Warthog both went 4-2 making you both 60-16. Wathhog got BG and CMU game wrong and you got EMU and CMU wrong.

I didn't pick CMU last week, I picked Ball State. My sentence afterward may have made it seem like I was going for CMU but I was not.
"Central Michigan at Ball State - Ball State - Man, TOUGH game to call, Ball State has just been so unpredictable. I like the Cardinals, but would really not be surprised at a Chippewa upset.

Warthog also took Ball State...not sure where you saw CMU for him unless he's a cheater and edited the post.

I don't know how I missed your results...looks like you went 3-3, getting NIU, Ohio, and Toledo correct, but getting WMU, CMU, and Temple wrong...for an aggregate of 59-17.

Thanks 24 for taking care of this ... while i enjoy a Guinness in Dublin, Ireland!

Central Michigan ... easy.
Bowling Green ... watch for a trap game.
Western Michigan ... Ball will make a good game of it.
Buffalo ... they took NIU to the edge.
Northern Illinois ... this is their signature win.
Temple ... no way they lose two conference games in a row.

I hope I picked all the games, doing this on my phone. Go BG!!

No my fault, I could have sworn CMU won. I saw they were up big and never realized Ball State came back and won. My bad. That's what I get for assuming a game was over.

Central Michigan at Akron: This may be the biggest pillow fight of the year, but I'm counting on the Chips to be the least craptacular of the two teams.

Bowling Green at Kent State: Going with my heart instead of my head this time.

Ball State at Western Michigan: Nothing short of a zombie invasion during this game would surprise me.

Buffalo at Miami: If money were on the line, I'd probably pick Miami. But I hate the Redskins too much to pick them here.

Northern Illinois at Toledo: This will probably be the best MAC game of the year and I think it's a toss up. I'm going with the spRockets on their home field.

Temple at Ohio: Character test for Adazzio & the Owls. I say Frank the Tank & Co. give them a failing grade.

I figure I should probably put my own picks on the board.

Central Michigan at Akron - Central Michigan - This game could bring about an upset, but I'm not sticking my neck out for the Zips. Chippewas get it done.
Bowling Green at Kent State - Bowling Green - Not sure if it'll be close or a blowout, but BG wins in Kent, just like always.
Ball State at Western Michigan - Western Michigan - I have to believe that the Broncos will respond after losing 2 straight, but it's still a tricky one.
Buffalo at Miami - Miami - I still can't read whether either of these teams are somewhat competent or just plain bad. Going with Miami at home in most likely a close, defensive game.
Northern Illinois at Toledo - Toledo - I really, really want to go for the upset here, but NIU is simply too unpredictable. Plus Toledo is on a roll and at home. Rockets win and take a big lead in the West Division.
Temple at Ohio - Ohio - The Bobcats have had Temple's number in recent years, and I think they are well equipped to slow down the Owls' rushing attack. Bobcats win at home.

Central Michigan at Akron - 12pm CMU will win a laugher
Bowling Green at Kent State - 1pm BG will romp!!!
Ball State at Western Michigan - 2pm I like Western to rebound after that tough loss to EMU
Buffalo at Miami - 3:30pm Buffalo should pick up the road W in a truly unwatchable game

Tuesday, Nov 1:
Northern Illinois at Toledo - 7pm I hate picking Toledo to win, but they will....

Wednesday, Nov 2:
Temple at Ohio - 8pm Potential for a tough game here. Temple will pull the road upset.

Saturday, Oct 29:
Central Michigan at Akron - 12pm: Akron is terrible. Central with the win.

Bowling Green at Kent State - 1pm: BGSU all the way!

Ball State at Western Michigan - 2pm: I keep picking against Balls Tate, and it keeps coming back to haunt me. So, I'm going to pick Balls Tate to win against WMU.

Buffalo at Miami - 3:30pm: Buffalo will win this game, defeating Miami at home.

Tuesday, Nov 1:
Northern Illinois at Toledo - 7pm: NIU will win, simply because picking Toledo to win makes my stomach churn.

Wednesday, Nov 2:
Temple at Ohio - 8pm: Ohio with the win. Temple will be depressed and in a funk after last week, and other teams may have figured them out after watching us beat them.
ROLL ALONG!!!
