Today we looked like last year's team. After putting together our best win in two years last week where we looked very sound, we completely stunk up the joint today. We looked terrible! Fumbled punt that set up a very short TD, an interception in the end zone from the 3, two missed field goals, multiple kickoffs out of bounds, fumble returned for a touchdown....it was sickening. For those of you who didn't make it or watch it online, consider yourself lucky. I feel bad for wasting my time and money making the trip to Kent today. What's sad is I also feel for all the other BG fans who did well. I swear we had as many fans on the main grandstand as KSU did. We got our ass kicked by a team that sucks, which pretty much sums up where we stand right now.

This is not a champion caliber team, either offense or defense or special teams.
This is not a champion caliber quarterback.
This is not a champion caliber coaching staff.
Will this ever change?

Guys calm down Kent State was without a win against a 1A opponent ......they were just due.

@ BGSU33 - Good thing you didn't waste much money, unless you drove in from far away. Kent charges just $10 for tickets and $5 for parking. That's got to be the cheapest in the MAC.

@ Drago - Either that's a poor attempt at reverse psychology, or you're opening yourself to get flamed. Either way, it doesn't explain away why WE had to be the team to give Kent their 1st 1A win of the season.

This game was an absolute soul destroyer. By the end of it I had canceled my plans to come to BG for the NIU and Ohio games, and I was officially off the Clawson bandwagon as well. In fact, it might be time to put this program on boycott if Ruggiero isn't gone at the end of the year. It was THAT bad.

I didn't get to see the game as I was over the Atlantic at the time but I saw the results when I was landed and was disappointed though not surprised. I labeled this as a trap game for a few reasons ...
BG is coming off a physical, tough game.
Kent is coming off a bye week. They were rested and had two weeks to prepare for a schizophrenic team.
Kent had a hell of a defense last year that has been coming together recently. They return last year's defensive POY of the conference who happens to be a d lineman good enough to start for most B1G teams.
They hadn't been winning but had been in the thick of their conference games. They are a hungry and talented team.
BG is a young team that frankly isn't used to dealing with success. It can actually be tougher to prepare for a game coming off a big win like last week vs a disappointment like yesterday. As this team improves and toughens mentally, sustaining will be easier.
The team has three more games, all of which are challenges. These guys are capable of sweeping or being swept. Regardless, these mistakes have got to go.

A good coaching staff doesn't let a team fall back into bad habits like this. They just don't.

This team has been making mistakes just like this in most of its games this year. That is why the record is what it is.

I am still not convinced the right QB is playing. He makes far too many very costly mistakes in games, yet he's not made to pay a price for those mistakes (sitting down). I have to believe there is a better option...or hope one is coming. I just don't see things getting any better.

Luckily I only had to drive 15 min home but it was a difficult drive. Man, I was very pissed at the end of the game with the way the team played. Simply no reason for that poor play. I thought we took a BiG step forward with the Temple win and now we just took two steps back with this loss. Just like the Wyoming game, we gave this one away and that is very hard to accept. I'm sorry but to see a collegiate kicker not be able to keep a freakin kickoff inbounds is simply amazing. We move up and down the field all day and had 15 pts to show for...sickening.

I'll still be at the last 3 games and I freakin hope we put forth the effort needed to capture wins.

Jerry Phillips apparently had a leg injury or else he'd be doing kickoffs and should hopefully be doing them next year. Tyler Tate has been redshirted, I think he'll be our kicker starting next year.

I spent well over $1,500 to see us beat Idaho and under $50 yesterday to see us crap down our leg vs. Kent State. Dollar for dollar between the two, yesterday, I got robbed. To make matters worse, we were heckled by Kent State fans (all 12 of them) leaving the stadium to the parking lot. I'm still trying to figure out which was more humiliating....seeing BG get beat by that bad of a team, or having KSU football fans talking smack??? Until yesterday, I didn't know the latter was even possible....
