The Future for Josh Harris

Post by thewebboy »

Just wondering what everyone thinks about the future of Josh Harris in the NFL... Is Baltimore going to be the best place for him long-term? I know he is there another 2 years with his contract. Do you see him fitting in anywhere else? I'd really like to see him at least get a chance somewhere in the next year or 2. It just makes me sad to see QBs like 4th rounder Luke McNown or 7th rounder Ken Dorsey get their chances to start and then fail misseribly, while Harris hasn't even dressed all season. I know I'm impatient, I think i just have Big Ben envy.

What exactly is Josh's status right now? Practice squad?

He is listed as a member of the Ravens practice squad, which puts him at the 4th QB on the Ravens squad behind Kyle Boller (2nd year), Kordell Stewart (10th year), and Anthony Wright (6th year). Personally it doesn't sound like there could be that much of a future there for him unless Boller gets hurt or Harris beats out Wright for the 3rd position. I dont think Kordell should be there that much longer.

While Wright is on the roster, I am not sure of his status. He had shoulder surfery in the off-season and was expected to miss at least half of this season. I have heard if he is practicing now or not. so at least throught the first half of the season, Josh was the third QB, and did dress for games as he could have played if the first two guys got injured.

The Browns could use a lot of things, not just a QB

This is not an insult at all, but Josh makes a great practice squad quarterback. He is a double threat being able to run and pass and can give defenses some great looks. While I wouldn't mind seeing him make a start, I think practice squad isn't a bad career at all. 74K a year isn't a bad paycheck at all.

Josh Harris was much further away from being a productive NFL QB than Luke McCown was on Draft Day. We see where Luke has gotten us to this point. Fact is the entire Browns team has thrown in the towel, so watching them is pointless.

I agree Hammb, my father and I ended the season, as far as paying attention to the Browns, three weeks ago.

I do not really like the Ravens as I am a browns fan!!!! After 6 yeaers, we get to start over again!! LOL

The ravens were the browns before, but still, cant like em. I thought it was cool in the pre-season when they had an ALL MAC backfield in chester taylor and josh harris.

I thought he would have seen more time cause I thought Boller was going to be a bust.

I'm a Bears fan.....I know they sure as heck could use him!!! They are currently using their fourth QB this season and that is also going nowhere quick. Rex Grossman looked like he was going to be the answer, then he was lost for the year with an injury. Since then, the Bears have cycled through three more incumbent QBs. Being a Bears fans is just torture sometimes! Thank God BG football has turned things around. Football seasons several years ago for me were absolutely miserable. They still are as far as I am concerned in the NFL, but not in the NCAA! So Josh, if you read this post and want out of Baltimore - have your agent contact Chicago.....PLEASE!
GO BG!!!

Personally I do not see much of a career for Harris in the NFL. The fact that he is number four on a team with average QBs does not speak well for his future. You see all kinds of scrubs who get their chance to start yet Josh is not even dressing. Makingit in the NFL a lot of times comes down to luck. Getting your start against the right team, with the right players, etc. So many players blow their one shot and than fade away. At this point it does not look like he will even get a shot. I hope that I am wrong in this but I never thought Harris was an accurate enough passer to be a good NFL QB. As good as Harris was at QB in college I thought he would have been a better running back. He had the athletic ability to start at numerous positions. I hope he is a better qb than I think.

Josh is an extraordinary young man.

I will never sell him short. I'm willing to bet he will get his day in the NFL.

And now a good number of people have a sudden renewed interest in the Browns...

Count me in.
