Urban and the SAC

Ok I have been thinking about this for a while now and finally decided to post it now that Urban has inked his multi milon dollar deal with the Gators.
When Urban was here he was a big proponnent of the Student Athlete Center and said it needed to be completed to get Falcon footbal to the next level.
Now that he is making a lot of money and time has healed the Urban Liar wounds, do you think it would be wrong of Krebs or the people in charge of raising money to ask Urban for a donation to help complete the SAC?
I mean look at it this way, we were the first school to take a chance and hire a young, 20 year old looking WR coach and name him Head Coach. Surely he wouldn't see a donation of this kind to little old Bowling Green as hindering what he can do at Florida. Heck for $150k-$250k he could have a room named after him in the SAC. Nothing strokes egos like having a room named in your honor.
I think it would only be fitting for someone who played a major role in the resurgence of Falcon Football like Meyer to put his money where his mouth was.
And hey, it's tax deductible.

We could name a room or a wing in the SAC after him and then re-name it every couple of years.

Why not ask?? All he can do is say no. For the school who gave him his big break and his first head coaching job, why not?? I agree it would be a great way to mend his past and also how could it hurt with recruiting maybe ten years from now if we show a recruit the "Urban Meyer" weightroom. Maybe Urban wins a few Natl. Titles at Florida and becomes an "Urban Legend" I am pretty sure that in 10 years or so many people will forget that he started at BG....

It probably was an idea tossed about when Urban was here. As far as I know though, the first un-official announcement was a few hours before the MCB. They already had the conceptual drawings and the seven million dollar figure, so it probably did take at least the better part of a year to get to that point.

I am not so sure your timeline is on there falconking.
I specifically remember an interview with Meyer talking about the SAC and the need for it to be built and the fact that he had the drawings for it up in his office.
Either way though, I think we should press him for a donation.

Why not ask him? The worst he can say is no, and then he looks bad for not helping out the school that gave him his big chance to suceed.

It would take a lot of SAC for him to say no...

Freak: That's perfect, because I have enough to have a door stop named after me.

I think it's a great idea DD..
Like others have said, the least he can do is say no.
BUT, there's always a BUT, Urban was big on getting things built in Utah.. which that University is now doing.
So they may go after him to, and for all we know, he could have some monetary commitment already worked out with the Utes.
But again, it can't hurt to ask

It took me a second, but this is very funny.

I seriously doubt the Florida administration would be very excited if Urban decided to cut a check to a different I-A school to improve its athletic facilities. What would we have thought if Urban had announced a donation to Notre Dame a couple weeks after he had been hired here? Although I see some differences in the situations, most of us here like to think we are rising to become a nationally recognizable football program who can play with anyone in the country. I cannot imagine another school's coach trying to help that cause in any way.
I agree though that Krebs should give him a call. If the press got a hold of him turning us down I would love to hear how he spins that one. It would probably be something like his current use of, "you are either a Gator or you are Gator bait." He has been getting a lot of use out of that one lately with the Gainsville press.

tell him we'll name it the Shelley Meyer weight room, and paint mountains on the wall...
...or mountains on one wall and dollar signs on the other.
*starts whistling "...these are a few of my fay-vor-ite things..."*
