Combine BS

I just saw the combine invite list and, well, I'm really disappointed. How were neither Bojicic nor Jorden invited? I figured Jorden would be a lock and Bojicic was rather likely. I sure hope they make it in the second round of invitees, but that's generally a pretty small list.
And I still do like Jorden's chances of making an NFL roster. Bojicic, quite likely initially at practice squad while they beef him up closer to NFL size. I think Kamar Jorden is NFL ready right now. Just my thoughts ...

Neither of those guys will ever play a down of regular season NFL football and I wouldn't be surprised if neither see the field in a preseason game either. Neither of them are even close to draftable prospects so I have no idea why anybody would think they had a chance at a combine invite?
Sure they'll get a camp invite somewhere (like everybody does), but don't confuse them with NFL talent. They're just not.

Mark,
You may recall a WR named Freddie Barnes..... He wasn't invited to the combine either....because he was "too slow" at 4.6.... Just caught 174 balls in one season because of his lack of speed.

I think you may be right about Jorden but he will be in a camp somewhere and all he has to do is show well then to make the squad. He could play the slot somewhere if he gets hot for a month. As far as Bojicic he will get a long look from a team certainly be in camp and I bet eventually on a teams practice squad. He has a ton of experience playing center and I assume making the line calls plus he has experience playing LT in a pinch. (Although my only memory of that was him playing badly). He is no a draftable guy but almost every team brings in a udfa center and he is ranked 18th by ESPN, 21 by CBS. Plus we have a history of quality centers and teams go back to the well for these types of things. I don't think he will set the world afire but I would expect him to be in a camp and show well.

History tells a different story.
Cole Magner had, by all accounts, an awesome camp with Atlanta. IIRC, then-Atlanta QB Michael Vick was raving about him to reporters. He was gone before the preseason games even started.
And as Denny points out, Freddie Barnes came with incredible credentials and never got a shot.

I'm not surprised at all. And it's really frustrating that even the lowliest of MAC programs seem to have more players in the NFL than we do.

Robert Redd, Cole Magner, Charles Sharon, Steve Sanders and Freddie Barnes were all better receviers than Jorden. I believe they collectively have one career reception in the NFL as of today.

Kent is never any good but they seem to have more NFL players than anybody. Have no idea what this means but it must mean something.

I don't disagree that Redd, Magner, et al were better receivers for BG than Kamar Jorden. This speaks volumes about the talent at WR we have had in the last decade. Few if any MAC schools could have a guy like Jorden and see him as only a top ten or so receiver of the last decade. Everyone else would put a guy of his talents in top three or five of that time span. Kamar seems to have the best mix of NFL size, speed, and hands though of all of our recent guys. I see him landing as an NFL possession receiver and doing quite well.

Mark,
I think all of us would hope that you're right.....just that the odds don't seem to be in his favor, based upon BG's WR "history".

KGun...sorry...I had a Tom Cole moment...Kamar Jorden's chances will improve or disappear depending on his 40 time at pro day. He has decent size...run a 4.5 40 and he'll get a long look. Run a 4.6 and he'll be suiting up for the Roughriders up in Sasketchewan.
Bojicic's chances are hindered by his size and helped by his versatility.
Don't see either getting drafted...
Magner was doing fine in Atlanta until he muffed a punt and dropped a ball because it looked like he didn't want to get hit....he did great in the arena league though.

Every year there are guys who get into camp and don't let teams cut them. The Bengals have Andrew Hawkins on their team for gosh sakes. The guy was a complete misfit for 3-4 years headed to Canada and then snuck on a roster. Doug Baldwin for the seahawks is another guy.
I would not bet on him, but it is possible.

Guy worked his ass off to get on a roster then proved he deserved it-you're hardly sneaking if you get yourself on a reality TV program, play well in other leagues, etc.

Your'e hardly sneaking in if you take a route that no one else has ever taken to get into the NFL? Even after his reality show he got few sniffs. This was his 3rd of 4th chance.

No two people have EVER taken the same route into the NFL (different schools, different draft status, starting off in different leagues, yada, yada, yada) so I guess that means everybody sneaks in. I'm thinking sneaking in is coming to camp uninvited, stealing a practice uni and then playing so well they can't have you arrested and must hire you. Or dating the owner's daughter and having the owner force the coach to give you a tryout.
