22 at Virginia Tech
29 Rhode Island

The game at Crew Stadium is kind of a cool idea.
Toledo week 3 is odd.
Get to play both Akron and UMass...Miami, EMU and Kent at the Doyt.

Beyond a favorable MAC schedule. Game in Columbus is a head scratcher, as is UT on Week 3.

Only 1 true weeknight game is nice.
OU gets Ball State and EMU in crossover games.
November 7th will probably decide the East.

So if BG is playing for something at the end of the season, lets play a home game on a neutral field. WOW, beyond stupid.

I'm ok with them playing in Columbus. It'll be a neat opportunity and probably draw a bigger crowd than a game at the Doyt vs Buffalo the day after Thanksgiving.

My argument is play the game the week before in Columbus. If I'm a coach and trip to Detroit is on the line in final game, I want it at the Doyt with 50 people there. Just my opinion, but very workable schedule overall.

Note to Columbus-area students... you get in FREE to the game at Crew Stadium.
After an initial "meh" reaction, I don't mind the schedule. All the true home games are on Saturdays. True, there are only five of them, but four of those are before Halloween, and we collect some amount of revenue from the game in Columbus. I know big complaint (number 27 in the top 12,937 list) in the past here has been only having five home games, but it takes some of the sting off that the last two won't be on a Wednesday in late November.
As for the Columbus game, I imagine will be more well-attended than a game on the same date in BG. And I would imagine, it would bring out a pretty pro-BG crowd, even among the non-alums. If we were playing OU or Miami(OH) down there, it might be different. But I would think anyone that would attend from Columbus with no ties to either team would likely pull for BG over a team from New York. Even if it's poorly-attended, I can't imagine it being less than what BG historically has played in front of at Perry Stadium on the Friday after Thanksgiving in non-Toledo years.
Having the UT game that early in the year is different, but not that bad. Should BG put up a good showing at Florida, it might just be early enough to feed enough excitement into the team to get people to make the drive north. And both teams should be pretty fresh that early in the season, making for an awesome rivalry game.

10 days off before the OU game is nice.

I don't know if I should say "Thank you Temple," or "Screw you Temple." I am sure the Toledo game date is a direct result of the juggling the MAC had to do. The game at Crew Stadium is pure genius. That is the day before OSU hosts UM in Columbus. People will be coming in for the game and if we can take advantage of even a little of that traffic it should be a good game with a good crowd. Hopefully they have already thought about the band and have hotels booked depending on what time the game is set for. Crew stadium is a great facility with plenty of parking due of the fair grounds. We should be 3-2 at the worst coming into October. The MAC schedule is more than winnable. Overall, it could be a whole lot worse. GO BG!!!!!!

I love this schedule! And the more I think about the game in cbus the more I think it is a stroke of brilliance. I'll be at four games ... Florida, Virginia Tech, homecoming which will be either Miami or Rhode Island, and Buffalo.

Update. Rhode Island is homecoming. We play that team down south for family weekend and since its also varsity BG day, we just may break that damn curse this year!

Why would they need to book hotels for one game in Columbus? It's not exactly a long haul on a bus.

Why pay for the buses? The halls will be closed so everyone will be off campus. Take your instrument and uniform and meet in Columbus. If it's a noon game or even as late as 4 then no big deal. If it is a 7pm kick and you live 6 hours away a room would be the least that could be done for performing at a game away from your home stadium. I am sure the football team will be staying in the Columbus area the night before the game.

Family Weekend Jinx + Miami Whammy? We tried that formula in 2008 when Miami was horrible and it didn't work. We'll see about it this time. The Jinx dates all the way back to 2005.
Speaking of curses, we have a Homecoming Hex on us since 2008 as well. Homecoming looks to be a gimme this year so that one should fall by the wayside.

I actually really like that schedule. Its weird seeing Toledo so early though.. I thought it was weird seeing them in October the past couple of years and now we're seeing them even earlier.
I wonder if that Columbus game is a way to boost our "home attendance" numbers since the Thanksgiving weekend game has been one of the worst attended games of the past few years?
