A few surprise picks, I know. But the NFL Draft is always a surprise. Overall thoughts?

Considering no BG people are predicted to be drafted, I don't see why this was posted here.

Also, why would Kellen Moore be Mr. Irrelevant? I wouldn't pick him to be that late in the draft.

The reason I questioned it being posted on the BGSU message board was for the following statement:

Typical Cleveland fandom...don't invest in the important position, build with the guys that every other decent team finds later in the draft!

I'm not quite sure that I'd take Tannehill #4 yet, but this line of thinking to avoid QB is ABSURD. Can somebody please explain to me why every other teams fans want their team to take QBs and Cleveland fans all want to continually build around dogshit like Colt McCoy!? It totally baffles me and I'll NEVER understand it.

Especially considering that the last time Cleveland was anything other than abysmal at the position was when they used multiple first rounders to land Bernie.

Honestly the biggest reason I would like them to take Tannehill is the fact that I don't think Blackmon belongs in the top 10 of most drafts and I'd never take a CB, RT, or RB in the top 10...pretty much makes him Tannehill the lesser of a lot of evils.

By your team, I mostly meant the Browns/Bengals/Lions since that's who most BG fans root for. I wasn't going to make an assumption of you root for.

Couldn't agree more Hammb. I don't know if Tannehill is the answer, he's kind of a developmental guy who will need a year or two. But this thinking that they can just continue to stockpile other positions and completely ignore the quarterback simply doesn't work. Quarterback is the most important position in the NFL, you can't go to the playoffs with Colt McCoy and expect to win anything.

Because it's a football forum and the Draft is three weeks away...

Kellen Moore shouldn't be drafted at all imo, but he probably will. He's not an NFL caliber quarterback.

Taking a bad QB can set you back years. I dont think you take a QB just to take one.

Exactly what I was thinking. The only legitimate QBs in this draft are Luck and Griffin, and most likely they'll both be gone by our pick at #4. You need to get weapons. Greg Little and Mohamed Massaquoi are basically #2 or #3 receivers. Cribbs is a nice wildcat option, and a good 4th receiver, but not a real threat at wideout. Without a legitimate primary receiver, even Manning would struggle to win.

Last season, Cleveland had a really good running back that was hurt or not playing more than he was on the field, and a good tight end squad. That running back is now gone. You can't make the tight end a legitimate threat unless you have a deep threat at receiver. Use the 4th pick in the draft and get a deep threat at receiver or a bruising running back (prefereably the receiver). We can then use a 3rd or 4th round pick on a QB like Harnish from NIU or Lindley from SDSU. If we are going to draft a project QB, why do it in the first round?

I know I'm in the minority on this one but I think Kellen Moore is among the best quarterbacks to enter the draft in recent years. He's not tall and not horribly mobile but the guy can flat out pass and read defenses better than anyone I've seen in a long time. Running the Boise State offense he looked a lot like Peyton Manning. If the Colts are looking for someone who can quickly pick up their playbook and run the offense seemlessly, including calling audibles from the field, I think Kellen Moore fits the billing better than Andrew Luck. Too bad the NFL requires guys to be 6'2 or taller to play quarterback. Too bad Drew Brees and his Super Bowl ring hasn't proved that line of thinking wrong yet.

As a Bengals fan I would love the Browns to take Tannehill.

I'd love for the Browns to steal him in the 6th or 7th round. I think you are right about Moore. Unfortunately, he's a shorter guy and didn't play for a BCS school, so he automatically gets downgraded because of that. Plus, Zabransky didn't pan out in the NFL or CFL, giving Boise State quarterbacks a bad rep.
