Exactly how WAS the Spring game?

I've seen several comments re: the video board etc., but NONE on the actual game itself...since we were unable to attend due to a prior commitment, I thought for sure that some of you who were there would have given some insight as to how the team looked etc.
I liked the fact that they actually were able to have a "draft" this year, making it a more realistic competition. Just curious as to how you felt the game went etc.

The draft made it fun w real teams out there but it divides both sides of the ball of course. So any spring game is hard to judge.
The defense again looked improved. Our DB's look better. Hunter, Sutton, Truss, Gates and others. Jones is a tremendous football player. Not news there but he looked very very good. Liked Colvin, Baird, Walker, Goble and Campbell on DL. Swan and Woods looked strong. Martin and Lynch likewise.
We were able to get some passes completed but our DB's tackled well overall. J Stokes looks very athletic but Jackson really looked much improved. He may be key. Coby seemed to really be ready to help. Gallon is bigger and much stronger. I would say that over the course of the year after we get fall ball in, he might be a factor. Joplin is Joplin. Bayer is just massive and Beck and Montgomery gave us three guys at that position who I think can play. We had some drops in the WR/TE group though. Cohen may help after his August arrival.
Schilz was on target most of the time but had to review some situations with WR/backs who seemed to be in the wrong place a couple of times. Matt looked stronger and moved pretty well. Johnson is athletic but really had his worked cut out for him out there. M Stokes is a good walk on QB.
Our backs did OK, but you are missing essentially your top three in Samuel, Givens and Hopgood though Martin and Pettigrew are good players. Samuel will be fine.
OL has caught some heck (deservedly so at times) but they needed to play as a unit which you really don't do in a spring game w a draft. Flewellyn and Bryant seemed to do OK and I think Roussos and Robinson will be solid. I think a number of teams will have to use two players to even slow down Jones and our OL had that trouble too.
Our punter should get plenty of NFL looks when he is done here.
Captain elections were interesting as they included little used holder Bart Tanski. Shows you there is more to this Mr Football in Ohio from a few years ago than meets the eye. Obviously a tremendously well respected member of the team.
Go Falcons!

Excellent recap ff1! I thought the Defenses looked great...tackling was better than we've seen in quite some time. IF we can get all the new WR's gelling by the time we hit the Swamp, BG will be a tough team to beat.
The best part of the evening? When all the season ticket holders lined up in on the field for the 1st quarter, the entire team came over to shake hands and thank us for purchasing season tix. CLASSY...that goes a long way.
GO FALCONS!!!! 139 days til we shock da Gators...

It was fun, but it was hard to tell a lot.
The white team had a lot of the play makers on defense, Lynch, Gates, Woods, Jones.
The white team tried to get it to Stokes as much as possible.
Like freak said, best part was getting to shake hands with the team before the game started.
Schmiedebusch looked flat out awesome, especially pinning it down inside the 10.

The biggest problem I saw (and it was mentioned by John Wagner in his blog) was the TWO personal fouls AFTER THE WHISTLE by BooBoo Gates. Stupid penalties like those cost us last year and if we do them again this year, then we haven't learned our lesson and will not be in a bowl game in December.

Thanks for the comments on the game. I figured with the draft it would be hard to get a bead on the team, but individuals will still certainly stand out.
I'm so pumped for the season this year. Really hoping for a favorable life schedule, so I can make it to all the games in BG, and the one in Cbus.

Thanks for the comments! Looking forward to watching some good defense this year! I expected a low scoring game but like the playmakers we have on offense.

I DVR'd it and watched some of it today...(the Wings and the Preds were playing Fri)...the second personal foul call probably doesn't get made in an actual game.

Does anyone know if Givens is looking like he'll be on path to join the team in the fall?
