Are we looking at a possible swing in the power of the MAC West? Could these schools be the tops of the MAC in 4 years, like they were in the early 90s? What do you think?

For their sakes, I hope they do experience a resurrgence. In the long run, it will be better for everyone in the MAC. As to what it means for BG, who knows. My guess is that our recruiting class won't be anything to sneeze at, especially when you take into account our recent recruiting history. BTW, we may not even be in the MAC West next year, so then if they do get better, they become your concern more than ours. Personally, I hope the bottom tier of the MAC does start to improve to make the conference more than just the BiG 4 every year.

CMU and BSU have won titles more recently than most MAC programs. With EMU improving, and an almost certain upturn at WMU, the MAC west alone could stand alone as a decent mid-major conference.

It would be a hard thing to argue, but one could say BSU, CMU, and WMU are not nearly as bad as some mighte be inclined to think.

Guess we are all in favor of moving back to the East then.

It's a good sign that some MAC teams are stepping it up. Central and OU are poised to, at least, strengthen the middle of the conference in the short-term and contend in the not-to-distant future. If Ball State can keep building and Western can turn things around, the conference will be much more respectable.
