Va Tech hotels???

Post by OptionQB »

Hey everyone,

It's been awhile. I'm starting a new gig on Monday over towards Lexington and surprisingly Google maps says its only 5 hrs to Blacksburg. Even more surprising were the $39 tickets I found on Stubhub. I would really like to make take trek, but I am having trouble locating rooms. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

We stayed in Roanoke the last time we played them, and if I remember correctly, the team stayed there also, but that could have been the first time we played them. They all run together after awhile! It was a Marriott I believe.

If you want to pay reasonable rates stay in Roanoke. Sure it's 3o or so miles away, but you are only paying >$100 for your room. I have seen rooms in Blacksburg around $250. Mind you this was when I investigated a few months ago, so things may have a changed a bit. Good luck!

My group is staying in Princeton, WV. About an hour from Blacksburg. Hampton Inn had every type of room available starting around $105.

For any of you who are going to the BG/VT game and have a significant other (wife, girlfriend, etc) who is being "dragged" to see a football game - but who also happens to be a fan of the movie Dirty Dancing - you could stay at the Mountain Lake Hotel which is just outside of Blacksburg in Pembroke. I've had to use this to my advantage and have to say it was pretty cool way to mix and match a football road trip and a weekend getaway. You can do a tour of the grounds from where they did filming and anyone who knows the movie will recognize the place immediately. It is built at the top of a mountain and is very, very peaceful and beautiful. One letdown now though is, the lake has recently dried up. From what I understand it has done this in cycles over the years, but the last time we were up there it was only half full several years ago, and from what I understand, it is dry right now. Anyway, still might be an option for some of you, just thought would throw it out there. Here's the link:
