After watching today's game I believe that I have come to the conclusion that Urban really left the cupboard bare at Florida. That is not a very good team.

Perhaps. If so, he had ESPN fooled. ESPN ranked his recruiting classes 4, 5, 1, and 12 from 2008-2011 (the last class signed one month after his last game with Florida).

You haven't noticed the love affair that ESPN has with Coach Meyer?

OK. Go with Rivals (3, 11, 2, 12). Even Scout, which had the lowest average ranking (12, 21, 1, 26), judged Florida to have the top recruiting class in the country in 2010. I realize that recruiting rankings aren’t incredibly accurate, but I think that Florida’s problems may have more to do with coaching than they do with leaving the cupboard bare.

Driskel was the #1 QB recruit out of high school....the defense is loaded with NFL players (both linebackers run sub 4.5 40s), they have multiple guys on the dline that will play on Sundays. Duboise is a weapon.
There's lots of talent on that team. If their offense can just help their D stay off the field the whole game they will win a bunch of games. If other teams are winning the tome of possession 2 to 1 they are going to wear down and give up point and have another 5 loss season.

I think they have lost a lot of players through arrests too.

Plus, they now have the OC from Boise State under Petersen calling the UF plays. It's going to take some time for the Gator O to get going with the new offensive system. But make no mistake...the Gators are loaded with athletes and talent. How well Muschamp can get them to gel is the question.

Florida's coach came in after Urban and completely blew up the offense, going from a spread (which the players were recruited to play) to a power I.
So the problem is NOT the talent level -- it's the fact the coach couldn't use the players he had there to the best of their abilities.
That's a coaching problem, and it isn't Urban's.
