Head Coach Mitch Hewitt

Don't look now, but Coach Hewitt now has his Chardon Hilltoppers undefeated after five games and ranked in the top five of the Cleveland Plain Squeeler poll.

Last night it was the defense which made the difference in a 7-0 final score against Madison in a "white out" homecoming game. In a show of mutual respect, Chardon student body donned blue shirts over their white shirts. If you recall, Chardon played Madison in a basketball playoff in early March soon after the February 27th shooting. Madison wore Chardon colors for Pregame warm-ups.

Hewitt's day job is as a social studies teacher at the high school with some time spent as "Councilman Hewitt".

...was a darn good 4 year starter.

Good for him. Had some classes with him and always seemed like a good guy.

Will be a great defensive coordinator for DJ Durkin....or Greg Studrawa.

Mitch coached the Division II Chardon Hilltoppers to an 8-2 record. Their only losses coming to undefeated Div I South High [same conference] and another decent conference foe.
From where Chardon was to where they are is night and day; Mitch Hewitt is the difference.
I see playoffs in the very near future with Mitch. I'm not sure if they have enough to make it this year but they have the pieces to do it next.

Some additional items, Mitch is also a Social Studies teacher at the high school and a City Council member [which is harder gig than the other two because of the peckerhead mayor].

Looks like they're in this year and hosting a first round game.

Keep it up Mitch!

While we are pumping up Falcon alumni who are now serving as head coach at the high school level I want to mention Ken Schriner who started at center for the Falcons in the mid 80's. Coach Schriner's Ottawa-Glandorf team just completed a 10-0 regular season and are ranked # 2 in the state in D-4. This is the 8th straight season they have made the playoffs.

Staying with the Falcon alumni serving as head coaches...Ex Tailback Chip Otten's Coldwater Cavaliers finshed 10-0 and won the MAC (Midwest Athletic Conference). His third year as head coach following a legend in Coldwater. He'll be trying for his 3rd straight state final with arguably his best team. Lost the first two finals to Youngstown Ursiline and Kirtland.

I would think that these stud teams could be leveraged to help our team in some way.
