All this '03 and especially the Gameday posting is very interesting timing for me as I'll be attending this Saturday's Georgia-South Carolina game and Gameday in Columbia!

The 2002 game at NIU was the worst feeling I have ever had as a fan so that day was amazing. So cool that the ESPN swallowed their pride and came here. We did have a really great crowd out there. I have found through attending College Game Day's at Michigan, Notre Dame and Alabama that the atmosphere usually isn't that good because having game day there is not a big deal as it happens at least once a year.

Go Football.

Yep, those of us that were there were really fortunate to have been able to have that experience. The thing that put it over the top for me was that the team rose to the occasion and beat an excellent NIU club. It would have really let the air out of the balloon if we had fallen flat in the game.

If I had to pick a moment that I enjoyed as much or even maybe a bit more than the Gameday/NIU game, it would have to be the Turdledo game from that year. They moved kickoff from 6pm to noon to accomodate ESPN. After stepping out of the warm car into that 8am biting wind at the east lot, I was questioning my decision to get out there so early. When the "artwork" got posted on Bill's Hill, the warm feeling I got inside made the chill go away and I didn't feel the cold the rest of the day and had a blast. And what a game! The division title to be decided between two great teams and the rivalry to go with it. I was sitting on the West side, toward the South end. That Harris to Magner to Harris throwback happened right in front of me. Never forget how fantastic that was. It happened along the same side line as that CMU punter waddled down, some years earlier. I can't say it made the pain of watching that play go away, but at least it helped.
