Quick look at UMass stats

UMass has had some good games including going toe to toe with Ohio, but the stats are a little less than good. UMass ranks ...
Last in the conference in scoring offense
Last in the conference in yards per game
Last in the conference in pass yards
Ahead of only that team down south in rush yards, who we held to 3 total rush yards last week
Ahead of only EMU in first downs per game
Last in defensive points per game
Ahead of only EMU in yards allowed per game
Last in rush yards allowed per game
8th in pass yards allowed per game. However, they've given up more rush yards than pass yards, so teams don't bother with the pass game too much.
So yeah, the stats have been pretty bad. However, as I've said before, they have nothing to lose, so such teams can be dangerous. Based off the press conference Wednesday, it seems Clawson has all the guys realizing that anyone can beat anyone in this conference. If I were calling the shots, I'd keep power running it on offense and use that to set up quick passes, and on defense let the defensive line have their way with the backfield.
