Per John Wagner's blog: First is a bit of bad news regarding sophomore running back Anthon Samuel, who did not participate in practice Wednesday. Coach Dave Clawson said Samuel suffered a neck injury in the win at UMass during the first half, but did return to the game. Clawson hopes to have Samuel at practice Thursday and lists him as "questionable" for the game Saturday.

If Anthon can't go, and it's not worth the rest of the season to risk a more serious injury, then the other backs will simply have to step up, in particular John Pettigrew (who's having a solid year), and a LONG look at Andre Givens, who's looked good the few times he's had the chance.
I'm concerned about Samuel in the long run...he missed 3 games last year due to injuries, and got hurt in Akron game as well this year.... durability is critical for a RB.

If he's questionable, I'd only play him if the game is on the line. Let Pettigrew and Givens shine. We all remember last year against UB when Pettigrew stepped up, and he's been outstanding since. I have full confidence that if Pettigrew is our go-to back, we'll be fine.

Pettigrew has become a very nice weapon for the offense. The dude's legs NEVER stop driving and he is very strong. He and Givens can handle the load and isn't Hopgood back now?

Other than the failed 2 point conversion attempt at Toledo I don't remember seeing Hopgood in any action.

Hopgood was on the field last week against Mass, but I don't recall seeing him carry the ball. I guess if he was healthy enough to be in the game last week, then he would be capable of carrying the ball this week, if need be.

And he's only the second best Falcon athlete in his family.
