ESPN Gameday

This is probably a long shot, but I am going to write to ESPN via Twitter to ask them to bring Gameday back to Bowling Green for our game against Kent, assuming they beat Miami this weekend. I am asking for everyone to join me in planting the idea in ESPN's mind. Contact Herbstreit, Corso, Fowler or whoever to let them know we want them to come to Bowling Green on November 17. Who's with me?

With Stanford and Oregon playing each other, this isn't gonna happen but would be a cool thought.

It's very possible Stanford loses to Oregon State this weekend. If that happens, I think there is a slightly better chance of Gameday at BG...probably still a long shot but it would be pretty awesome!

I already started a twitter campaign by contacting Herbstreit, Fowler, and the official College Gameday profile on Twitter. #BringGamedayToBG Anyone else is welcome in contacting those gentleman, it can't hurt to see what kind of movement we get going and what kind of response we may get. Also former BGSU alum and Jay Crawford could be another good contact in regards to his ties to ESPN.

I don't think it's really the right time. In 2003 I went on the same crusade. (for some reason I like to think I was the first to plant that seed, but I'm asuming it was just a lucky coincidence that it actually happened ;))

But back then I believe both us and NIU were ranked and it was the year that the MAC had all those upsets.

Good luck though!!

I wonder how far in advance they schedule their GameDay destinations?

it took 2 minutes out of my day I'm not really stressing that it won't happen but it can't hurt. I agree back in '03 both teams were ranked and the MAC had a big year but so has this year. Kent St. knocked off Rutgers, Ohio knocked off Penn St. BG played Florida very tough to a national television audience. Central Michigan and Iowa was a barnburner and I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting. Sure with Stanford and Oregon playing that week I think its a cold chance in hell it happens but who knows.

I don't think Gameday goes much but a week in advance determining locations because they even ask on twitter each week where the next location should be. This week its in San Diego on an aircraft carrier, no specific home game they are representing.

Weekly. They announce where they are going on Sundays.

I tweeted it to as many people involved with Gameday that I could think of!

Why not us?

This week Gameday is in San Diego broadcasting from an aircraft carrier. I heard Herbstreit on the radio earlier this year in Columbus and he made a comment that they go to one location per year that is "off the radar." Basically meaning they go to one place every year that is not a game between two BCS programs. It would be awesome if Gameday came to BG again but there is basically no chance for the Kent game. Better chance if both BG and Kent were undefeated or ranked but still wouldn't happen this year.

Still it never hurts to start a campaign of this sort and at least annoy those guys to the point that they understand the type of fan base we have.

BG and Kent would both need to be undefeated for even speculation, more importantly lets work on trying to sell the game out.

The 2003 game was the perfect storm. 2 ranked MAC teams that had beaten bcs teams and there were no good match ups anywhere else that day.

There is some fore-planning, but if a given team loses, they will often reroute. I don't recall off the top of my head what the original planned location was, but earlier this year, they wound up in Knoxville for Tennessee/Florida because of a loss by one of the originally planned teams making that match up less exciting.

This is a good week to try it.

Locations so far
September 1: #8 Michigan vs. #2 Alabama (Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, TX)
September 8: #24 Florida at Texas A&M (Texas A&M's first game as a member of the SEC)
September 15: #18 Florida at #23 Tennessee
September 22: #10 Clemson at #4 Florida State
September 29: #14 Ohio State at #20 Michigan State
October 6: #5 Georgia at #6 South Carolina
October 13: #17 Stanford at #7 Notre Dame
October 20: #7 South Carolina at #2 Florida
October 27: #5 Notre Dame at #8 Oklahoma
November 3: #1 Alabama at #5 LSU
November 10: Aboard USS San Diego // (Closest game: Air Force vs San Diego St)

Schedule
http://espn.go.com/college-football/schedule/_/week/12

One of these 4 seems the most likely
TBA No. 14 Stanford at No. 3 Oregon
TBA No. 10 Florida State at Maryland
TBA North Carolina State at No. 13 Clemson
TBA No. 19 USC at No. 18 UCLA

Edit: Looks like USC or Oregon are the best matchup for the next week so I think it might be Clemson.
