Gehrig Dieter eligible?

Post by Falcon137 »

"Wide receiver Gehrig Dieter, a transfer from SMU, also caught Clawson’s eye during the scrimmage ... Dieter is waiting to hear from the NCAA if he will be eligible this fall."

Anyone know why he would be eligible this year?

Wow. I had no idea there even was a chance. Not sure why he could be eligible.

Wow. News to me that there's at least a possibility of him getting an eligibility waiver after the transfer. I would love to see him contributing as soon as possible. He looks like a great receiver that could be a HUGE and immediate addition to the receiving corps.

Sometimes when you see a transfer become eligible to play without sitting out it has to do with returning closer to home for family/personal matters. Not sure if that's the case here or not.

They denied his appeal per John Wagner.

Never thought it was possible to have less respect for the NCAA but they keep plumbing the depths of asininity.

Not that I disagree with you about the NCAA. But, why should his appeal have been granted?

I believe there were personal reasons which didn't go over too well with an impersonal monolith like the NCAA. The transfer rule is valid but permitting Gehrig Dieter play college football in 2013 isn't a threat to anything in college football besides the power of a few megalomaniacal bureacrats in Indianapolis.

Great grab from today's practice...The throw was from his brother Nolan by the way.

WTF...are they using nerf balls in practice? There's no way he made that catch with a real football, right? :)
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I believed we are going to love him when gets on the field for us next year. I have heard nothing but great things about his play in practice. It's too bad he couldn't play this year but I think we have a gem waiting for us in him next season.

Now admittedly I'm saying this from afar, but based on what I can tell I love the energy Gehrig is bringing to the program and I know he is hungry to get out there when it counts. Looking forward to seeing him in game action.
