So their athletic department can hire Bobby Hurley yet make no alliterative attempts at the game's slogan? Rumble, rampage, ruckus anyone? It's a given that it will sound cheesy and nothing all that memorable rhymes with Ralph.
I will take this kind of game any time it means we're trading a "true" road game for a "neutral site" location, even if it's still nearby. But I strongly dislike diving up a home game to do something like this as we did in Columbus last year. I'm sorry but that was a flop. Yes I heard all the things our athletic department and coach said about how good it was afterwards, etc., But for anyone who was there, we know. There were a few thousand fans there maybe, about the same size crowd as if we played in BG. We spent all this money on improving Perry Stadium and only play there 6 times a year if we're lucky as it is. I don't want to give up any more home games. I donated money to improve Perry Stadium to enjoy it more for our home games, not for us to give home games away. Especially conference ones. If a school like Ohio or Miami wants to give up THEIR home game with us and play in Columbus again, I will gladly take the offer and go. But I am against us doing it. Tried it and didn't like it. At least in Buffalo's case they are playing nearby in this one.

Uh, what? What renovations have been done to the actual stadium?
Doesn't the master plan for renovating the stadium come out this year?

A new playing surface with the FieldTurf, a new video board, the locker room renovation and the Sebo Center to name a few.

Sorry, the game in Columbus was whatever. It was a good try and I was willing to see if it worked. But, I'm not going to poopoo it because of all the money they've poured into the Doyt. The 10+ years I've been going to games the only upgrades for the fans would be the video board (which was paid for by Learfield Sports...not donations) and the bleachairs. The fieldturf was installed as a necessity and the Sebo and locker rooms are program improvements not gameday improvements.
The band and cheerleaders don't much care for the Black Friday games... It was always a drag for the students to have to cut short the time spent with their families. But they seem to be a fixture of life in the MAC now, so the least we could do is keep them in BG.
