Schilz takes 5 WR's back to CA with him...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Saw on Facebook Schilz returned to CA with 5 BG WR's for a few days. I think Matt is determined to have a great 2013 season and hopefully it happens. We need him back to 2011 form and working with the WR's on break is a good sign.

I saw that as well. Looks like Gallon, Burbrink, Delk, Coby and Bayer.

Is that all on their own dime? Airfare? Hotels? Meals?

Maybe they sold a coupon book to be able to afford Spring Break like most of us did back in the day?

I assume they are staying with Matt's family.

Hey mom and dad ... I'll be at the house tomorrow evening. I'm also bringing five of my friends ... and they all eat a whole hell of a lot and all need beds for a few days. No problem right??

Anyway seriously that's pretty cool. When I see somebody taking time that would normally be spent with the family, with high school friends, or just screwing off but instead decides to practice more passing routes ... that's leadership.

This is cool. I hope Schilz shuts me and others up.

I love hearing this. Hopefully this will give these guys a chance time to work on some things and bond a little, and also have some fun while out there (just not too much fun guys ;) ). Does anyone know which guys went with him? BG is in sort of an odd spot. We return a three-year starter and usually this situation is exactly what you want and hope for. Yet with how Schilz played at times last year, there's certainly some uncertainty with this position in the offseason, spring and heading into fall. When you look around the MAC at other teams returning a starting senior QB like us (some of them who didn't start since a freshman like Schilz did), teams like NIU with Lynch, Ball State with Wenning and Ohio with Tettleton are solidified at the position and sitting pretty. I can only hope Schilz comes out and has a terrific season.
GO BG!!!

For 33...GO BG. If Matt keeps his job and can play like 2011, we will be in excellent shape. He definitely did not play as well as he's capable last year. We were banged up in the WR unit and he had a sore back much of the year. But, Matt also made some poor decisions which, I think, comes from forcing things.

It's 12:52am and I'm off work tonight. So I'm having a couple brews and sifting through BG football stuff. :drinkers: I'm looking through the passing records in BG history. Matt is currently about 2,450 yards away from the career record of 10,280, the Great Brian McClure. He's thrown 50 TD passes, only 22 away from breaking the career mark of 71, Omar Jacobs. Tyler Sheehan has 70. IF Matt keeps his starting role and can have the year like 2011, he will break both marks. Ya gotta give the kid credit when deserved, just like he's been criticized when deserved.

Sheeeeeeeeet....we're only 113 days til kickoff, or roughly 2,712 hours  :supz:

Yup. Clawson can talk about losing Jones and Woods and Roussos, which is significant, but he knows there's more than enough talent to compensate for those losses.

Schilz is the key to the whole season and it's not even close. If he plays well we'll win. If he doesn't we have to hope Johnson pulls a Jordan Lynch.
