Why didn't Tulsa play at BG in 1990?

I was wondering this today...My SR year was 1989 and we went to Tulsa and got beat 45-10. Damn I wanna drill this team in 90 days. But does anyone know why Tulsa did not come to BG in 1990? BG only played 10 games that year and finished 3-5-2. What was the official reason? Thanks in advance and...KICK TULSA'S ASS!

Was a sophomore then. I don't remember, I do remembers that is was late enough where BG could not schedule anyone else.

I think Tulsa bailed on BGSU very late, b/c they had a chance to play a major-conference opponent (and receive a major-conference type of guarantee). IIRC, Tulsa cancelled the game so late that BGSU could not find an opponent to replace them on the 1990 schedule. I'm old and that was nearly a quarter century ago, though, so perhaps my memory isn't 100% correct.

I took a look at the schedules. I think Tulsa dropped BGSU for a chance to play at Arkansas. Tulsa played at Arkansas on Sept 15, and that weekend is BG's only 'bye' week of the 1990 season. BG played two games (vs Cincinnati at Riverfront Stadium on 9/2, at Virginia Tech on 9/8), then had a weekend off before playing at Central Michigan on 9/22. Tulsa's schedule that season:
