Dear Faculty, Staff & Students,

I’m very happy to announce that Chris Kingston will be joining BGSU July 15 as our new director of athletics. Chris is currently executive senior associate director of athletics at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., where he has been since August 2010.

At NC State, Chris is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the football and men's basketball programs. Additionally, he oversees external initiatives, athletic branding, NCAA compliance, student services and media relations.

Prior to NC State, he was at the U.S. Military Academy, where he served four years as the associate director of athletics for operations before becoming the special assistant to the director of athletics/director of annual giving.

Chris was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army's Military Intelligence Corps upon graduation from the University of Central Florida in May 1994. He retired from the U.S. Army in September 2009. In addition to earning his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Central Florida, Chris received his master's degree in leadership development and educational counseling from Long Island University prior to his initial assignment to West Point.

Chris and his wife, Stephanie, a native of Whiteville, N.C., have four children: Lakin, Christopher Jr., Luke and Mackenzie.

I’m looking forward to working with Chris, and I hope you will join me in welcoming the Kingstons to the Falcon family.

Regards,

MaryEllen Mazey

Has there ever been a coach or ad hired where the last two posts weren't the first two posted when they were hired.

Actually the more I read into this guy the more I think we hit a home run. Experience in sports management, fundraising, military discipline and efficiency, and add to it NC State is a great athletic department, especially considering the co defence rivals in their back yard. Beat of luck Chris Kingston!

Seven, but don't let that get in the way of your bashing a guy that you don't even know just because you enjoy being negative.

I don't want to get in the way of your assumptions that I am bashing him by asking a question, but his last jobs seems pretty nice, just surprised at his lack of experience in this area.

As someone who has dealings with NCSU I am not a fan of this. They have a horrible problem with winning and keeping people. I hope he has not learned too much from Debbie Yow. I'm hoping for the best but I am very weary of this move.

Excellent skill set across two completely different platforms in Army and NCSU. Has led coaching searches at D1 level. Experience in media/communications/branding. Compliance oversight. Fund raising at grass roots and higher levels. Disciplined high work ethic fellow w real Army background. Army has all the sports- including hockey. NCSU has all the challenges- backyard big boys like Duke and UNC. A poster says they don't win at NCSU- pretty good programs against some very very very (did I say very?) good opposition.

Very high energy enthusiastic guy w big up side in my opinion. Wants to be a Falcon and wants to get to work.

Let's go.

Go Falcons!

Keep something in mind ... Duke and UNC are in their back yard. NC State as a university has always played second or third fiddle to those two. Athletics is similar in that regard. They'll take the successes they can get in basketball. It's always about Duke and UNC in ACC basketball ... and then the rest of the teams. In football it's tough to consistently compete at the same level as the top of the ACC when you've got Florida State, Miami, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech to contend with. On top of that, North Carolina is not a horribly rich HS football talent state and your in state competition includes three other ACC teams. It's a tough place to win consistently in the top two sports.
