Never heard of this kid, but it is a recent situation with Clawson involved. This seems to have some teeth and could be very damaging financially as well as impacting recruiting.

Story is almost a year old. No idea why that particular paper is just now picking up on it. Unless this firm picked it up and rolled his case into a class action against the NCAA.
Here is the state of Ohio court documents from the case.

Either an out of court settlement or Silk's lawyers told him he didn't have a strong case without hard evidence. Looks like this is a non-issue now since the complaint was dismissed.

They just reprinted the press release from the personal injury firm virtually verbatim. If it had legs it didn't affect Doug Boersma's (the athletic trainer cited) hiring at the same position at Purdue for more money after this all occured.
Like most I don't know what happened but the firm loses credibility when it advertizes an email address (
[email protected]) fishing for more cases. Also, it seems like there were major sour grapes unrelated to the concussion stemming from his departure from the university:
"According to the complaint, due to miscommunications within BGSU, Cody was unable to register for Spring 2012 quarter classes. As a result, BGSU revoked his academic scholarship. Cody filed an appeal in response and was then denied during a hearing in May 2012."

(Update: the above post noted it was dismissed so it's now moot. At first glance I misread the title and thought it was a suit about
concessions; they ain't that bad

)

This is a current "get cash" scheme by lawyers. I believe there was recently announced class action lawsuit against the NCAA.
Confirmed. Just googled:
Class Action Lawsuit
There is likely to be more of this for all schools until the lawyers lose a few more court decisions.
