Kent State Game

New coach and a freshman QB this year.

They beat Liberty yesterday 17-10. Dri Archer injured his ankle in the 1st Quarter. He did not return to the game. Even if he plays next week he might not be 100%.

Kent State has beaten us 3X in a row...that has NEVER happened before and it won't reach 4. After seeing us totally stuff the vaunted rushing attack of Tulsa, I have no doubt we can stop Kent State.

Must win game indeed...this is for the MAC title. Win every MAC game starting with this one. Noon kickoff and the Freaks will be in the lots by 8am.

I hope you are right, because last year our vaunted rush defense was simply destroyed by Kent State last year. Those two touches alone by Archer killed us. That was the difference in the game. Period. The one run looked like he was shot out of a gun and other run looked like everyone on the defense had two shots at him each and he still blew them away. He's a freak in space and has a gear and elusiveness we didn't see from any other back and couldn't simulate it in practice. Those two runs are why we didn' play in Detroit.

Do you have an extra sleeping area for two people looking to possibly crash the night before the game so we only have to drive from Akron instead of Elyria???? Hmmmmmm????? If not, totally cool...just checking...for a friend(?).

The thing that almost scares me the most in conference play is that there's the potential for our guys to let the week 1 win go to their heads and it will effect how they prepare for the "run of the mill" conference teams. Clearly, teams like Akron, Mass and a few others should have no shot at beating us..........unless we don't prepare with a serious attitude each and every week. We can't afford to take anything for granted and take a week off, regardless of how the matchup may look on paper. With Ohio expected to still be strong this year, one loss can be enough to make the difference between playing in the conf championship game and watching it on tv. The coaches know that and hopefully, with a veteran team, they won't need to remind them of it. I'm hoping we have good senior leadership motivating everyone to take each week as serious as the next.

That said, it would really surprise me if we overlooked Kent this week. The fact that they have owned us in recent years should be enough of a motivating factor for us to come out and throttle them. I'm sure those guys that played significant roles on last year's team remember the sting of that loss very well and will be hungry for some payback. I know I am and can't wait to get up there.

I am willing to bet the rest of my 3 years at BG that we don't "overlook" Kent.

Channel 5 in Cleveland (WEWS) will have it at noon. Not sure what channels outside of NE Ohio. It is ESPN regional.

The Senior class hasn't beat Kent State, so overlooking isn't gonna happen one bit. BG knows what's on the line Saturday and I suspect you'll see a very hungry, motivated and tenacious BG football team.

CH 22 out of Dayton is carrying the game locally. If the weather is decent I can normally pick up this station with an antenna. I recommend checking your local listings. Good chance it may be on where you live.

If it's ESPN Regional, you can also pick it up on ESPN3.com
