BG with votes in both polls this week

BG with 7 votes in the AP Poll (down from 9 last week) and 3 votes in the Coaches Poll. If we can beat Indiana and take care of business as we should after the Hoosiers, we could find ourselves ranked again.

I don't see any way we get ranked after this week. Indiana lost to Navy last week, and they've lost to MAC teams with some regularity in recent years, so I don't think poll voters are going to be blown away by us beating them if we do.

My guess is that it'll take us until at least week 6 to get ranked. We might even have to win in Starkville to ultimately get there because I don't see most voters getting on our bandwagon by us beating teams like Murray State, Akron, and Massachusetts unless they have no choice but to move us up because everybody in front of us is losing.

What irks me is that somehow, one or two poll voters thought that we were a top 25 team after beating Tulsa, yet were so unimpressed with our 41-22 win over Kent State that they dropped us out. That makes no sense to me.

Agreed, 24. It's very perplexing to me. Oh well, just keep winning and the accolades will follow. Roll Along...

Sorry this always bugs me. They are points, not votes. There is a difference.

If you're going to waste your time worrying about the polls.

BG was on one ballot last week and one ballot this week. Doug Lesmerises dropped BG from 17 to 19.

Sweet mother of everything holy...the entirety of our being in the rankings is because of one guy?

I would have to think it's unusual for one guy to have us that high up and for literally nobody else to have us in their top 25. But then again I don't usually dig into what writers or coaches voted for.

In this case, it's a big difference give that all our points came off a single ballot.

And, FWIW, "Dougie" is the Cleve. PD main coverage guy for a school in Columbus. He does usually take time to explain his voting. Don't know his logic this time, UNLESS someone 'below' us blew someone away.

Polls, Out of conference wins, bowl wins, Sports Center plays of the day, 500 yards of offense mean nothing.

I want a M.A.C. title more than any of all that.

1992 is far too distant

Yep. We could go undefeated and we would not be ranked where most of us would think we should be, nor would we be likely to play in a bowl game that would be of appropriate significance for having had that kind of a season. That's just the way it is. Winning a MAC title is what would make me happy. Whatever else may come along with it is icing on the cake.

+1

And generally all that other stuff comes with a MAC title.

Still want to kick the snot out of the Hoosiers though :)

IMO, BG is under-ranked anyways, so these polls are largely meaningless, especially if only one person is voting them into the Top 25. Just take care of the MAC this year and worry about the pollsters later.
