Congratulations, GMAC Bowl champs...

Post by HornLakeTiger »

Well, after spending a solid threeplus hours sitting in the on again, off again pouring down rain, watching the Omar Jacobs Show, then a seven hour drive home to think about it, and take it all in, I can honestly say it was an absolute privilege to be able to watch your team last night.

Jacobs is the next great MAC quarterback, absolutely no denying it. Cole Magner is a WARRIOR....I saw him take several ungodly hits, and the guy kept coming back for more.

I felt lucky that we were able to get at least one pick, and get a couple hits on Jacobs. Going in, I knew that we were gonna HAVE to match you score for score, and hope for a couple lucky bounces our way...because knowing our suspect pass defense, (suspect isn't even a strong enough word for it) we DID NOT have a snowball's chance in hell of stopping Omar Jacobs.

Your fans were loud, your band was great, (my wife is a former snare drummer, and she was highly impressed with the BG band) and I can honestly say that up until now, I never really kept up with MAC football....but I am now HIGHLY interested in Bowling Green football, and I will be keeping a close eye on the brown and orange from here on out. I would say that I want a home and home with you guys, but not for a couple of years....because I don't want anymore of Jacobs!!!!

Thanks again, guys.....it seems almost cliche' to say this, but there is no doubt that Bowling Green's fans have been some of the classiest that I have EVER had the privelege of talking football with. You guys are absolutely great, and if you don't win the 2005 MAC championship......well, just maybe we'll see y'all down in Mobile again!!!

Thanks,
Have nothing but great opinions of memphis and its fans after last night. What a great game all around. Glad to here you think we were loud, kinda of hard to judge yourselves compared to what is heard across the field. The only thing I disagree with is that I would prefer a home and home with omar around.

hope everyone else had a safe trip home.

I was really impressed with all of the Tiger and Falcon fans. That is the way college football should be.......alot of respect for each other, honest questions about the other team, no taunting.......it was a GREAT atmosphere. Hats off to the Tigers.......why don't you make the move to the MAC!!!!!

He has made a career out of that. He's such a small fella -- but one of the toughest players I've ever seen. We will miss him.

Thanks for the kind words. Your fans were great, too. I met many of them in Mobile -- and it was such a nice contrast from the usual crap we put up with from a couple of local programs I won't mention in this post.

LOL, I actually did wander over to your side of the stadium during halftime, hoping I might spot you and Noah. I was looking for anyone that might've vaguely resembled your picture, but didn't have much luck.

My facepaint was smeared everywhere by halftime, and I had on a blue rain poncho, so I didn't exactly look the way I wanted to...lol.

Horn -- Thanks for the kind words. Your fans were great, and everyone was very nice to talk to down there. DeAngelo was a load and I hope he makes a speedy and full recovery. He was probably the second-best back we've faced this season (only behind Adrian Peterson of Oklahoma). Your team and fans were classy and it was great talking to everyone and playing against you in the bowl game. Good luck and continued success with your football program!

Great game guys. It kills me to know that mental mistakes took us out of that game. (Well, that and a sorry D). I had a fun time talking to the BG fans. What happened to your running game? Is it that good, or is our D that bad? Also, isn't DeAngelo a lot faster in person?

We've been pretty successful all year. While Pope is no DeAngelo, he's very, very good. Our spread has always helped open up the run. Also, it helps that we have a veteran offensive line... our center is 300-plus and a possible NFL draft pick this spring.

Finally, considering the 3-3-5 you fellas were playing... well, it made sense that the Popemobile was going to break off a few good ones. The folks I watched the game with thought we should have been running the ball more than we did, actually.

Yeah, he's amazing to see in person. There were several occasions where our players seemed to have the right angle of pursuit... but not for DeAngelo.

He's a good one. He's definitely got NFL speed.

We could not have had a finer opponent. Go UM.

Tigers are a great team and you'll have a great team following. Really class fans. :supz:

I am sorry that Mr DeAngelo got hurt; hope he has a full recovery.

I felt sad, that with such a great pre-game buildup; someone had to lose. :wah:

But, I will always respect your team and fans. Much future success.

Without question this was the most pleasent build-up for any game, regular or post season I've watched online. The Memphis fans are indeed of the highest class, I wish I had been able to travel south to be there in person.

From all I've read, the Mobile locals and such also deserve a tip of the collective hat. One starts to understand why LDU wanted to go to Bama so badly. The GMAC bowl is clearly a fun time for everybody involved. Give or take Toronto, I'd really like to have an excuse to travel there. Maybe if the right cruise ship is based out of there I will.
