Who knows better than Gary what it is like to lose a job days after losing a game at Buffalo?

Will never forget that game at UB in 2000...Bulls on an 18 game losing streak and we go in there and lose 20-17. Nothing worse than UB students yelling at ya "BG sucks!!!" walking back to the car. UGH.

As bad as that loss was (and it was bad), it was even worse (and WAY more demoralizing) losing to Buffalo in 2008 when we led 27-7 in the 4th quarter at home and lost!!! And with it our shot at the MAC Championship. That one was one of our worst losses ever considering the position we were in and what we had riding on it.

True...2008 was worse. But 2000 was down right humiliating.

That night was the darkest I can ever remember as a Falcon fan. It was clear right then and there that Blackney had to go. We were 0-4 after five straight losing seasons, and it seemed doubtful we would win a game all year (we ended up 2-9). I've never been angrier about the state of Falcon football than I was that night.

I wanted Blackney fired before the buses got back to Bowling Green. Fortunately, the athletic department handled it with a lot more class. Two days later, Blackney announced he wouldn't be returning the next season.

And that, kids, is how we ended up hiring Urban Meyer.
