I was told that Fahn Cooper was offered by Texas A&M yesterday and that he was also offered by several other BCS teams. He transferred from BG in the off-season and is now at the College of Dupage along with another former Falcon in Shaq Hall. I remember Dave Clawson saying last year that he felt Cooper had NFL potential. It seemed a little strange that Cooper started as a red-shirt freshman last year for us but then didn't return. His departures was ruled as personal and that it was not a dismissal, but if you read between the lines here, I'm guessing Cooper left to try and play in "greener pastures." I was bummed that he left because I thought he was going to be a darn good LT for us. I wish him well if his sights are set on the NFL, but I wish he'd have gotten there from BG.

Also offered by Texas Tech, Arizona State, an Illinois according to 24/7sports, with Oklahoma showing interest.

Yeah he was a big loss but the O line is showing improvements. NFL talent is nearly impossible to replace for a school like us but I was pleased with the way they held up against MSU. They aren't the best in traditional drop backs but they do a nice job on roll outs and when we run.

Why wouldnt he just transfer then. I think its rare for a guy to leave and gamble to go down to Juco to try to come back up in BCS. I do think DJ Young did it though as well.

The thing I found curious about the DJ Young situation was, I believe he wanted to move to OL where we had a need (we also still had a need at DL too), and then eventually he left. Then he transferred to Michigan State where he eventually became a starter on the OL. I have no idea what the actual reason was about why these guys left, but when you see them go on to start or likely start at BCS programs after here, it does sting that we couldn't keep them, especially when you see a situation like fellow MAC member CMU keeping and producing the #1 pick at OT last year. Yes, I know they also lost a guy like JJ Watt to Wisconsin and he's thriving in the NFL and we're not the only ones who this has happened to. But it sure would be nice to retain the talent when we bring it in and have it like in these cases.

I have been pleased with Jacob Bennett and Logan Dietz...for RS Freshmen, they've been pretty stellar so far. Cooper was a big loss but it gave a young guy a chance to jump up.

My guess would be he wanted to keep playing somewhere without having to sit out a season

Fahn Cooper ended up signing with Ole Miss:
Cooper will join the Rebels from the College of DuPage, where he was the team's starting left tackle this year. A 6-foot-5, 315-pound tackle from Crystal Lake, Ill., Cooper spent two years at Bowling Green University, including his redshirt-freshman season in 2012 when he was the Falcons' starting left tackle for all 13 games. He is rated a 4-star OT by ESPN.com and 247Sports.com and is listed as one of the nation's top 20 junior college prospects by both sites.

Good for him if that's what he aspired. Obviously someone was in his ear about being able to play at a bigger school. Hope the move works out.

I don't get this move honestly. It would be different if he wanted to transfer to an elite program, but Ole Miss is a middle of the pack SEC team and I don't see them ever rising above the usual leaders of the SEC West even with there great recruiting class. You can reach the NFL as an offensive lineman at BG. Heck I would argue you could garner more attention when you're the big fish in a small pond than play in the SEC where you're just another O lineman nobody knows the name of.
