This hurts and couldn't come at a worse time. Time for the rest of the receivers step it up. Hope that Chris can make a full recovery and come back strong next year.

Good opportunity for Burbrink, Cohen, Moore and Jackson to step up. I thought Cohen had a strong game against Miss St. so while losing Gallon is a big blow, I think there's enough depth here to overcome it.

Yeah Cohen played really well. Would be great to see someone like Coby step up and contribute.

Tough loss, but they should have enough depth to overcome this. Frankly, I think BG will be running over UT more than passing. Gear up, O-line, and get your running shoes ready, Mr. Greene!

The loss of Gallon really sucks. It's also the third WR we have lost for the year to injury now in Gallon (knee), Hosley (knee) and Delk (arm, WR moved to DB). Add to that we also lost White before the season started (think he left school).

...and Greene moved to RB.

I wonder if this means an increased role for Herve Coby...or would they take the RS off of the highly touted freshman Teo Redding.

This is where the petioning of Dieter falling through sort of stings. That kid was dazzling to watch at times and he would have provided another tall target opposite Joplin. We really need Joplin to step up now. I would also like to see more of Jackson. He looked good a few weeks ago. I know he's more of a slot receiver but he was slated as our starter last year before we lost him. But I have been impressed with Cohen in his spots too, so now he really has a chance to show us what he can do.

I don't want to kick Gallon while he is down, but I don't think it's unfair to say he hasn't been sort of a disappointment this year. In 7 games (6 full games since he was injured early vs MSU) he basically matched what he did in the Kent State game alone last year. He is as physically imposing of a target as there is in the MAC, yet, he seemed to struggle using that to his advantage. His ypc was also under 10 per game. I also saw a lot of DB's barking at him after breaking up passes he was trying to haul in this year too. Maybe they all enjoyed rising to the challenge of going up against him, but I was expecting a lot more out of him this season. I wish him a speedy and healthy return next year and look forward to seeing him rebound, because he has the tools to be an All-MAC players. Now he needs to just put it all together and go out there and do it.

Getting the ball to Ronnie Moore in space on more than just jet sweeps would be good too.

From the Sentinel-Tribune:

"Jared Cohen, a 6-1, 189, redshirt junior, will start in Gallon’s place.
A junior college transfer who was redshirted last season, Cohen had career highs with five receptions for 51 yards filling in for Gallon in the Mississippi State game. Freshman Teo Redding is Cohen’s backup.

Looks like the RS is off Redding...

Coby was in on a handful of plays in the second half when we went 5 wide. Would also like to see us use Moore more often as a result of this.

I would hate to see us burn Redding's redshirt now, in the 8th game of the season, but this team is built to win this year and if he's absolutely needed, then I guess you have to do it.

Agree with kdog and would much prefer to see more Moore instead of burning Redding's redshirt. Type that fast, 3 times! At this point in the season, you would hope Moore is up to speed on enough route running to give him opportunities for more than just jet sweeps and screen passes.

You potentially have six more games to play (if BG gets to the MAC title game, plus a bowl game), so burning a redshirt at this point doesn't bother me as much as it would if there were only a couple games to play. He is going to get in nearly half a season of experience, assuming he does, in fact, play.
