Good for him, and I mean that with all sincerity. He's defeated his rival, recruited well and has gone to multiple bowl games.

Toledo seem to be an attractive job - they win. Pinkel, Saban and now Campbell were all good hires by the Rockets.

Near as I can tell...Campbell isn't much different from Clawson. No BCS wins of note, lost to rivals NIU and Ball State and he got trucked in the bowl game last year. Hes beaten us twice..DC has beaten Solich once and got royally screwed by the refs once.
So that's enough to warrant an extension? Not in my opinion....

Maybe Im wrong but it seems if it comes down to being hired at toledo or BG, toledo seems where they want to be. Im referring to Beckman primarily. Have others chosen them over us, or migrated that way? (assistants)

Was Beckman ever a candidate here when Brandon left? I know he wanted the gig when Urbie left, but I can't recall if he was even considered here. I do recall that GC said Clawson's resume was on his radar when Brandon was still here...but he could have been blowing smoke after his first choice went elsewhere, I guess.

If I remember correctly, Beckmann took the UT job before the BG job was open.

He didn't take the job by the time the BG job was open but he was pretty much their guy by then. They deserved such a massive tool as Beckman, they really did.

Exactly....Campbell took over the second or third best team in the west and two years in they're ....probably the third best team in the west. Gregg Brandon cratered this program, but at least he was able to take a team that last step in their division.

This was a tiny "thanks for beating BG" bonus. His buyout only increases from 300,000 to 330,000, money a BCS school can find in their couch cusions.
If another school really wants him they can get him easily. At his age, though, it's worth waiting for a truly special opportunity.

I think its more so to help recruiting efforts. Players want to know a coach is going to be around, even if its likely he'll be poached for another job. BG did the same with Clawson for similar reasons. Its still a good sign for the MAC overall that they're still getting good young coaches and the schools recognize this.

Campbell came in during the 2011 bowl game and defeated Air Force in the Military Bowl.
In 2012 Campbell started on the road at to-be 9 win Arizona and lost in overtime. He defeated Bowling Green, defeated #21 Cincinnati at home, then down spiraled losing to 9 win ball state by 7 and 12 win NIU by 7. He got beat badly in the bowl game losing his leading tackler and rusher in here 1st qtr. Although with 8 minutes left Toledo was only losing 13-9.
In 2013 he went to Florida, and current #11 Missouri to evade blow outs. On a positive note Toledo had the ball down 24-23 in the late 3rd before turning the ball over and losing that game. Again Toledo lost to Ball State by 7, but did beat Bowling Green for the second year in a row.
Under Campbell Toledo is 15-7. 7-5 vs. >.500 opponents (counting FCS #2 Eastern Washington). 2-0 vs. rival. 0-2 vs. Ball state. 9-3 in conference. 8-1 at home. 1-3 vs. BCS.

I know you go to UT and have to come to BG for decent parties and bars. But, on Halloween you shouldn't waste your free time on your rivals board bragging about your coach.

Was it really bragging though. To me it was more like he just stated a bunch of facts that a lot of us probably already knew
