Every time I hear it I think of this team, especially the seniors. Three years ago they suffered through a 1-7 season in the MAC. It went down as one of the worst seasons in program history. The next year they improved to 3-5 before going 6-2 last year. This team is now 3 wins away from being MAC East Champs and getting to Detroit for the first time. Ohio has beaten BG three consecutive times at the Doyt. These seniors lost a heartbreaker to Toledo in their last game at home. Let's get this win, send the seniors out with a win, and win the MAC! We're in position, now it's time to close the deal! GO BG!!! BEAT OHIO!!!

Clawson said some pretty revealing things at the last press conference that didn't really get picked up on.

In a nutshell, he said certain members of the 2010 team didn't prioritize football and were discouraged with all of the losing. He specifically mentioned playing video games as an activity that merited higher standing than film study or weight lifting among a segment of that team, an apathy that had a deleterious impact on the freshmen. Rather than allow these influences to dictate how they went about their business, the freshmen redoubled their commitment to winning and made a pact to reverse the fortunes of the program and the negative mentality that had seeped in. The new players coming in took their lead from them and now we've got a fully functioning, fully invested Division IA program from the top down.

If true, these seniors are owed a massive debt of gratitude beyond even what many of us had already bestowed on them. Bravo!

This SR class is all heart and class...

I still remember a feeling of chills going down my spine in Clawson's end of year 2010 press conference when he said the preparation for the 2011 season has started. I got the feeling we were going to see a turnaround, and that we did. The team was leaps and bounds better, even if they still weren't quite up to snuff with the rest of the MAC. I knew there was leadership on that team. The 2013 seniors should go down as one of the best, most resilient classes in BGSU history. There's a few more games for them and if they keep winning, they can become legend by being the class that started 2-10 and finished MAC champs.
