Will BG be doing anything like this???

Huskie season ticket holders received vouchers good for a free ticket to either the 2013 MAC Championship game OR NIU's bowl game this year (one voucher for each season ticket purchased).

I'd say $10 MACC Game tickets are nothing to shake a stick at.

Not to mention that the NIU tix were listed at $20 for the MACC.

$10 for a conference championship game in an NFL stadium 90 miles from campus is probably the best deal of the year. I'm all over it.

Not saying $10 isn't a deal, it is for sure. But as a long-time a season ticket holder for BG, can't help but notice the NIU offer was certainly a cool offer.

Honestly, as a season ticket holder, I would prefer to pay the $10, and use that money to get that many more students to Detroit.

Not to mention $10 tickets to bowl games. Face value of my Military Bowl tickets were, something like, $75.

Translation: NIU fans are cheap and have to be enticed to drive from Dekalb, Illinois to a place they've been to the last three years.

Might I add some input, here.

First off, good luck this weekend, it should be a good game. I expect a good crowd from BG as it is so close to Detroit. Both my in-laws are BG undergrad alum and my old lady went there for a year.

The ticket deal, I believe was actually to entice bowl game participation. I think they prepped for the fact NIU would have another good year, they wanted to reward season ticket holders for their loyalty. As a recent grad (May of this year), I moved to Dallas for work, but upon hearing the deal, I immediately bought a pair in the event NIU crashes the BCS. I gave my normal tickets to friends, and if NIU beats BG, I will have already paid the face value of BCS tickets and get them "free"

To me this was huge. I was able to allow friends to attend regular season games, the athletic department got some cash, and I would be able to attend the bowl game. I am ponying up to pay the small ticket fee to Detroit and the marginal airfare, and hoping to get an expensive bowl ticket for "free".

I also suspect, NIU has a great student trip. I know in the past, even though we drove up separately, they came up with a very cheap ticket/bus package. It's like $25 for the whole thing. They've brought many students because of this. I believe most of it is subsidized by donors, but I'm not sure.

Hope to see some BG fans pre-game and possibly at the Marriott. Last year, NIU fans took over the Marriott, weren't many over nighters from the Kent crowd as they were closer.

As I mentioned, NIU usually offers students a great bus/ticket combo. Here is what they are doing this year.

Good for NIU, hopefully it's a good atmosphere, Friday. As for the hotels...I doubt you get much of a BG presence. BG isn't even promoting hotels (there is a discount rate at the Marriott Detroit Renaissance Center for $119). I know others on this board were talking about staying at the Atheneum Suites, which is really close to bars, including the BG Alumni meet up at BW3.

Hopefully NIU students can find a way around this-
"Students will not be permitted to bring any liquids onto the bus, and bags will be searched."
