Its not out of the question that he gets 1,700 yards by season's end. He is going to really put that mark unbelievably high.

So Greene should end with the most rushing yards ever gained in a season in BG's history?

He should have that by the first quarter if not the first series.

Not to downplay Greene's accomplishment, but he played a 12 game regular season schedule with probably two more games to go. The rest of those guys on the list probably put up those numbers in 10 or 11 games.

As a member of the "Jim Brown is the greatest NFL RB of all time" camp I'd be interested more in Yards Per Carry as well as Rushing Attempts to put the yardage total in to a little better context.

How good is Greene? We have 3-4 players behind him who would probably start for most other teams in the conference.

Just give him space to operate and not jam him up the middle so much.

Durig had 6.7 ypc in 1951 (1,444 yards on 214 carries) when he set the record, averaged 5.7 for his career, also the school record (basically tied with Willie Geter in '08). Greene is currently at 6.1. (1,422 yds on 235 carries), which is currently tied for 6th all-time behind Durig, Geter, Alls, Lane & Pope.

Greene's 1,544 all-purpose yards is fourth behind Barnes, Pope and Magner.

A 100-yard rushing game vs. NIU would tie Durig's record of 5 straight 100-yard games. (Greene had 96 yards rushing vs. Toledo, then topped 100 in each game since, as far as my quick research showed.)

Durig set that record in a nine game season during the Truman administration.

Pretty incredible that a record like that has stood up so long.

He had a 206-yard game that season, the first Falcon to break 200 and the only one in the first 50+ years of the program. Still fifth most all-time for a single game.
