If NIU goes to the BCS we share in the money correct. So if we win this game how much money do we lose?

Here's a pretty good break down from last year's Orange Bowl.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... al-with-it

The Huskies will actually earn more ($28.2 million) than the Seminoles ($23.6) for playing in the game. The trickle down of cash will reach all the way to Seattle University, Denver University and Arkansas-Little Rock. Seattle and Denver play basketball in the WAC. Arkansas-Little Rock is in the Sun Belt. Those basketball-only schools also get a share.

The biggest payday in MAC history, works out this way:
• $7 million of the $28.2 million is divided between the five non-BCS conferences (Conference USA, Mountain West, MAC, Sun Belt and WAC).
• Another $7 million is divided into 15 “units” based on conference strength. Because it is the No. 1 ranked non-BCS league, the MAC will receive five of those 15 shares, followed by the No. 2-ranked conference getting four shares, etc.
• The MAC will get $8 million of the remaining $14 million as the participating conference.
• The other $6 million will be split up into those 15 units.

Talking with AD we got about $400,000 last year. Go for the win - publicity worth that much - also better bowl for team.

I agree that you go for the win. But I am not sure the publicity is worth that much. I would say it will help in recruiting but we seem to be where we want to be there numbers wise. Plus Clawson might get called up so the momentum of that migh go with him.

This is a win-win I think. You win, you get a MAC title. You lose, you get 400K

Win or lose, Clawson is going to have offers. If he does leave BG will get, $200k from his buyout.

As a side note....when are the renovations and plans for the Doyt going to be announced? Seems like now, the best season in 10 years, would be the perfect time to roll out the plans and start asking for donations.

Right after you win the MAC Championship would make a ton of sense. Then you ride that and seek donations as well.

Clawson's buyout is only 200k?? That's really low. Doeren's was 750k.

Also, I don't know if the publicity is worth 400k. That seems pretty steep. No offense, the onus is going to be more than NIU lost than BG won is how the media would spin it.

But if NIU wins, getting around $1M over the course of two years while only playing that team once is not a bad out.

This is shaping up to be the slowest hiring cycle in years. There are only 6 open jobs (2 in the MAC) when most years there are 20+. Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, WVU, Kansas and Florida are sticking with their guys and keeping those in tact minimizes the domino effect.

UConn makes the most sense geographically but word on the street is they want a flashy offensive coach.

Most of the openings this year will be coordinator jobs. Be interesting to see if Elko or Ruggiero draw any interest if Clawson isn't tapped for a head coach position.
