Congrats Falcons

Post by HuskieJWN »

Just wanted to say congrats and good luck in the bowl.

NIU was outcoached, outplayed, etc. It was a poor showing by the Huskies and an excellent one by BG.

I didn't run into a single bad BG fan, and that has to be noted. Classy bunch.

I said I thought the only way BG would win was if they blew NIU out, and that was the case. BG was better than I thought. I saw some people complaining about the top 25, that's just the way things are. NIU is still ranked because of the whole season, that's why BG isn't ranked. Not saying it's fair, just the truth.

Had they had better performances in the games against tougher competition outside of NIU, you'd see them ranked. Just food for thought as NIU had back to back 11-3 seasons where they weren't ranked and it's because of the losses and who they were too.

BG has a fine football team, and I think Friday night was their best game all season. They looked good offensively and defensively, they did enough. Didn't think they looked great defensively, but when you score 47, you generally don't have to (ie NIU winning 12 games). I may be bias, but I think NIU was the worst team that night, but overall would probably get BG's number more often than not. Good luck and take care.

Huskie,
Thanks for the props..we're obviously all proud of the way our guys played against a VERY good football team...I Do think we found your weakness, at least defense wise.... I think Dave Clawson said it best in the post game interview..." we planned to PASS" the ball" and considering that BG had run the ball so effectively all season, this had to be something they saw in NIU films. You've got to admit there were a heck of a lot of wide open receivers out there for BG... only one of the TD passes was even closely covered.

That said, NIU has had a great season and a great run....FOUR yrs. in a row in the MACC game says a lot for the program....and I hope Lynch still gets an invite to NYC for the Heisman awards. He won't get it, but he's a heck of a player. That run down the sideline when one of our DB's thought he was going out of bounds said a lot more for him than just rushing for a couple of TD's and passing for one. It was late in the game, pretty much decided and he was still competing at the highest level. I guess I was surprised at his size...thought he was a lot bigger than 6'...but he's a heck of a player...
Hope you guys do well in the bowl game...looks like all but one of the MAC teams should go in as favorites, based on matchups, team records etc. I only hope it runs true to form. \:D/
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

Thanks Huskie. Best wishes to you guys vs Utah State. I think I likely speak for a strong majority of us on this board to say I would have been rooting for you on Friday had you been playing any one else but us.

I also want to give a compliment to your fans I ran into both before and after the game. All class. The only comments I heard from them afterwards expressed their congratulations and acknowledgement that we were the better team that night. I hope BG can come close to replicating the success you guys have had in recent years. =D>
