BG Football and Baseball are MAC Champions!!!
BG Football and Baseball are MAC Champions!!!
All of us on here who follow BG athletics knows that most of our men's sports have either really struggled or just sort of chugged along for the better part of the last decade or so it seems. But what a year it has been for our football and baseball teams winning their respective championships this year. On the biggest stage - the football team beat undefeated and nationally ranked NIU led by Heisman Trophy candidate QB Jordan Lynch to win the MAC Championship, while the baseball team beat the lone undefeated team in the tournament in Ball State led by MAC Pitcher of the Year pitcher Scott Baker to win the MAC Championship. When you look at some of their results in recent years, both of these programs have made runs and came close but fell short, but they both closed the deal against very formidable opponents and won championships in blowout fashion (47-27 and 7-0) this season. Congrats again to both programs on their MAC Championships! I guess that means that men's hoops is going to finally win the MAC Tournament this year too then, right??? Hey, we can dream, right?
GO BG!!!

It's been a great year for BG when you have two men's sports win titles. That just doesn't happen often enough. Savor it.BGSU33 wrote:All of us on here who follow BG athletics knows that most of our men's sports have either really struggled or just sort of chugged along for the better part of the last decade or so it seems. As for basketball: I think the best we can hope for is (1) our AD hires a great coach to replace Orr and (2) the new coach is successful at recruiting needed players to complete this roster and finally (3) in the next year or two, the team is able to win a MAC tournament and go to the NCAA tourney for the first time in half a century -- ending one of the most embarrassing streaks in collegiate athletics.
