Dave Clawson is headed to Wake Forest per CBS

Looks like we lost him, where do we go from here? I hope whatever we do and whoever gets the job that they utilize what we have built and that they don't try and fix what isn't broken. I'm fact, it's working REALLY well.

Athletic meeting has been made for 7am with a team announcement coming at 8am. My guess is they try to keep Elko/Ruggiero on through the bowl game, then look elsewhere.

Anybody know what amount (if any) we get for leaving before the contract's up?

I believe there is a 200-250K buyout on his deal. Wake Forest will likely pick up that bill.

Yeah, that's chump change in this upcoming deal for Wake.

Just please look everywhere after the bowl. Hiring from within just to keep the current momentum is what caused all these mac teams to be cyclical. It's highly unlikely that the best head coach we can get happens to already be an assistant here

I'd normally say that, but what he have seen both on D and in the receivers has been utterly outstanding. The D has come together the last two years in a way I'm not sure I've ever seen, and the play of the receivers has improved leaps and bounds this year especially considering all of the injuries. Can't help but think those two coaches have got to be candidates ... more so Elko than Carney of course.

Huge thank you to Dave Clawson...he came in and did exactly what he was hired to do, rebuild the program. It truly is a program at this point...whoever takes over at this point will have a lot to work with in the net few years. So..thanks, congratulations and I hope you have great success at Wake Forest

This is Chris Kingston's first big hire...I have a feeling he is going to be as thorough as possible

Heard OSU Running Backs coach Stan Drayton mentioned as a candidate as well. He seems to be very highly regarded around college football. Been some rumors about him going to FAU but seems obvious that BG is a much better job.

Got to think we'd be a pretty good destination for a good coaching candidate (going from BCS coordinator/assistant to HC or a good coach at a lesser school than us) as well as we should still be a good spot for recruits coming off a MAC championship against formally unbeaten Northern Illinois, right?

According to Twitter some of the names being mentioned are:
Pat Narduzzi - Defensive Coordinator for Michigan State - Yes please. Coming off a year with the number 1 defense in the nation.
DJ Durkin - Defensive Coordinator for Florida - I'd take it. Would want some one from a big school.
Stan Drayton - Running Back coach for Ohio State - Meh... Big jump from RBC to HC. We do have a nice stable of RBs for him to work with, though.
Mick McCall - Offensive Coordinator for Northwestern - No thanks. I dont want anyone coming from Northwestern.
